This place is awful. It’s the typical nail salon that people joke about having your technician blatantly making fun of you and saying horrible things about you while doing your nails very tacky and rude people here. I just wanted a simple manicure so that my nails could breath a bit and they treated me like I was a second class citizen beneath them and little do they know I could understand a lot of what they were saying. The actually lady at the front desk was so dismissive and talked over me anytime I asked a question. Don’t assume people cannot speak your language because they don’t look like you. And making fun of customers with your co workers right in there face is unacceptable. Even if I couldn’t understand them, which fortunately I could, the tone and facial expressions told it all.

Inconsistent service. I’ve been here and had good service and good pedicures but this time was subpar. I called ahead and asked if I could come in for a pedicure in 5 minutes and they said yes to walk on in. I arrived and ended up waiting 10 minutes to sit down. They were obviously pretty full.

Today my daughter wanted to treat us ladies (2 daughters and me) to pedicures and manicures at her regular Happy Nails and Spa. So went to Happy nails & Spa on a walk-in bases, sign in it was 2 manicures, 2 pedicures, 1 refill, 1 wax. While waiting 6 minutes later 4 other ladies sign in and are waiting the male person at the front calls the 4 ladies that signed in after us and proceeds to sit them and gets them ready for pedicures, he comes to my daughter and tells us to come back later after waiting for 10 minutes of waiting, my daughter asked him if the ladies he sitted before us that signed in after us, have appointments, my daughter showed him the sign in sheet and they didn’t have appointments either. I’m sorry but that man had dollar signs for these 4 white ladies and not us 4 Hispanic ladies or what do you think was his issue I’m not one for race card ever but this was totally not cool and very rude, I think but let me know if I’m wrong. we came over to Nikki Nails got taken in fast, got our pedicures, manicures, wax and fillings easy peezy. Very nice people, polite. Thank you Nikki Nails you made up for the rude person at Happy Nails.

I’ve been here a total of 5 times, because the first time I got a gel mani here the tech KILLED IT. I usually come as a walk in customer because my schedule is so hectic & this place is by my work. BUT on my last visit I made an appointment bc one of my natural nails broke. The receptionist told me that it mattered which tech fixed the broken nail bc not all techs know how to apply the extensions. Long story short even though I booked an appointment i waiting for 10-15 minutes before they then sat me in a chair with my fingers wrapped in acetone for 30 minutes. When a tech finally came along she buffed my nails so hard I thought my skin would be raw & she filed all my nails crooked. The inspo picture I showed her was very basic, milky white with silver glitter & they look NOTHING like the picture. The worst part of it is that the extension she put on my broken nail is completely uneven and is bent a little upward? If that makes sense, honestly didn’t even know that was possible. I would only come back again for a pedicure, this was just overall such a horrible experience but I wish I could remember the original tech who did my nails. She really was amazing.

I rarely ever leave reviews but this place was so bad my bestie and I went here for Christmas Eve as a way to spend time together- we specifically planned this weeks in advance and called ahead to ensure we could sit together and have our nails started together so we could chit chat among ourselves and my best friend was taken and started on first despite us asking otherwise- they said no- okay, let’s not give workers on Christmas Eve a hard time. I am not shy to ask for what I want whatsoever- I’m low key broke so If I’m dropping $80-$90 bucks on a set I want it to look how I envisioned it- throughout the process If I saw the shape was too thick or to long I’d simply say “no rush but I like my nails a bit thinner” and she SIGHED and noticeably rolled her eyes I was so embarrassed I just stopped looking at my nails because I felt like a burden to keep asking (keep in mind after 30 mins this was the second time I made a request.) They also straight up do NO designs whatsoever expect French tips- keep that in mind- if you go your only options are plain and French tip- you can also do multicolor for $5 per color per nail… Bruv your saying I wanna do each nail every other color that’s an extra $50? … the answer is yes. Oh and remember how I said we booked an appointment weeks in advance- we still waited for 45 mins on those chairs LMFAO. Anyways I ended up doing a french tip set and left $18 tip (bc it was still Christmas Eve) and my total was $91.91. My nails also weren’t how I envisioned but my options were get them to look pretty and be a crazy ride customer to them or sit quietly and try my best not to annoy my tech. I won’t say her name as I’m not specifically blaming her but the whole establishment. Crowded but in LA that’s a good thing- tbh kinda dirty- mismatched equipment- which is TOtALLY FINE but just know you won’t be getting a luxurious experience despite the price your paying. Seriously anywhere else in the Marina or Culver if you drop a band on French tips you get the best most prompt service ever- not here. My bestie who’s more shy HATED her nails but saw how I was even treated when I asked was silent- I didn’t even know she hated them until we were outside. I came to look at the reviews and unfortunately, it seems to be more than a holiday issue. The few times my tech spoke to me was to mention how slow and empty it is in the shop today. Girl we waited with appointments for 45 mins and it’s a SLOW day ? I slightly disintegrated inside. Anyways yeah not 0 stars but 1 star is accurate for sure.

I absolutely loved my experience at Happy Nails. I’ve been in LA for two years now and have been to at least ten places looking for a good mani/pedi. Usually I have to monitor the work that’s being done, point out uneven shapes, uneven paint jobs, etc. I didn’t have to say anything this time except to pick my color and have small talk. I did the works package and it was very worth it. Good gel selection too with matching polish. Found my new spot!! Super clean and safe too.
