Canceled my membership in March and was ASSURED my services still due to me would be available until I was able to use them because of the difficulty of scheduling. 2 and 3 weeks booked out is not conducive with my schedule so it was nearly impossible to get in. After calling and leaving several messages with no returned call, I was finally able to speak to two different “managers” who did nothing to accommodate the misleading information I was given. So I paid for services that were never rendered regardless of the contract I signed because I was assured verbally the massages would still be available. I trusted that. Big mistake. Almost every time I was there, I would overhear complaints from others and experienced the same. During sessions , they will tell you what they are going to do but fail to mention these things cost extra until you check out. As a manager myself, I know there is ALWAYS a way to accommodate a dissatisfied customer but they weren’t interested in rectification with the chance I would rejoin in the future. Very poor quality of customer service if you don’t have the ability to stand behind what you are promised. Their word means nothing. Get it in writing. Or better yet…NEVER JOIN!!!!!!

The massages are good when you can get one but almost every time I book an appointment they cancel or reschedule at the last minute. This week I had an appointment (booked over a month ago) and they called me less than an hour before the appointment time and cancelled. If I did that they’d charge me but they offer no compensation to customers at all. I have months worth of credits on my account that I can’t use.

Woof. I received a 1hr massage (massage lasted 48 minutes) at a promotional price of $69.95. The massage was less than mediocre. I would describe the experience as more of a firm rub than a massage. It seemed like the therapist had no idea what they were doing based on the way they were doing the massage. Consistently putting joints and limbs in strange and uncomfortable angles, pinching excess skin/flab against the table, and just seemingly going through the motions and not interested in working on their client. Not sure if my “therapist” was wearing some sort of ring or had a sharp nail/callus on their hand but I have a few scratches and irritated spots from it. I’m honestly slightly relieved it didn’t go the full hour because I couldn’t wait to get off the table. After the massage I received a complimentary 4 ounces of water and was directed to the counter where the receptionist made me feel extremely uncomfortable and self-conscious for “only” tipping 15 percent.

Wouldn’t even give this place one star. Went in for my 9am appointment that was literally just booked the day before. They had no recollection of me, then found in their system where they cancelled my appointment because I “didn’t answer their call”. Woman sitting at the desk claimed she was the one who called, but I pulled up all phone records and no missed calls…. Then they proceeded to tell me there was nothing they could do but get me in later, no comping of the massage (which you would think a place would do with how bad the customer service was). No manager around to talk to either. Very disappointed especially when you have a tight busy schedule. Not a very RELAXING start to my morning which is what I was hoping for. Will never come back!

Following my husband’s passing, I found out that my account with Hand and Stone was still active. My last appointment was in July of last year but I thought it had been frozen. Apparently not. Now to close the account I have to pay an extra month of $69.95 after not using the past 5 months. They kept hanging up on my calls when I tried to straighten out the balance. I asked for the name/address of the Franchise owner, who I was told was “Austin”. I wanted his address/phone, but they kept hanging up on me. Beware.

I have never seen such a bad costumer service. At first, I scheduled my appointment online and when I got that, they did not have it in their system. Disappointing! Then, at the front office, I scheduled a new appointment for today and was SO excited about it. When I get here, they sent me to a room to do a facial when I scheduled a massage. They even offered me hot stones because of the misunderstanding. So why would they send me to a facial room? They just don’t know what they are doing.

My last 3 scheduled appointments were canceled by Hand and Stone due to the “therapist being unavailable”.

After having to book over three weeks in advance, my last THREE CONSECUTIVE appointments have been cancelled. I opted to put my membership on hold because I had accumulated too many credits to use. They did allow a 3 month hold, but due to scheduling my the earliest appointment available couldn’t be booked for three weeks out. By the time my appointments had been cancelled my temporary hold had expired, so I’m again paying for credits that cannot be used. On top of having to pay for a “final month”, which earns an additional credit, so now I’m 11 credits (equivalent to $770) out of pocket for services I was unable too obtain.

I have requested cancellation awhile ago and have not received a call. I asked for a manager to contact me and have not heard anything. I have had 6 appointments either canceled (within less than 24 hours), changed providers without contacting me, or been double booked. There has been zero compensation for missed appointments other than an offer to upgrade my next appointment to hot stone. I can’t even get in to an appointment in order to use any upgrades. If I canceled within less than 24 hours I would be charged for the service. I keep being told that I have to cancel with a membership specialist and I am on the list to be called. Also I will need to use my packages I’ve already paid for or I will lose them when I cancel, but again I can’t get an appointment to stick. The people that are working the front desk are taking the brunt of customer complaints and can’t do anything to help. The manager doesn’t call back even when multiple messages have been left. There is no information to contact the franchise owner. I am at the point where I feel that my only course of action is to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, stop payments on my card, and file fraudulent charges for not providing services provided.

Despite the numerous negative reviews online, I decided to give Hand and Stone a try. I just used a promotional gift card ($49.95) for a 1-hour massage that was actually only 43 minutes. The quality of the massage was mediocre. I recommend that you don’t waste your money.
