I received a postcard with an introductory price for massage or facial and my regular aesthetician has been out of the country for quite some time. So, I decided to try Hand & Stone. I was pleased that appointment times were available to accommodate my work schedule as early as same week! I was disappointed to learn that they do not offer 90 minute services though.

The staff is friendly enough until you have an issue and then there is zero attempt to rectify a problem in a professional manner. I got membership because I found a massage therapist I really liked. One month later she left so I found another massage therapist that was also good but then she also quit soon thereafter. I started to have trouble getting appt times that worked with my schedule and high turnover. They have some good massage therapists, but the really good ones (2) have VERY limited availability during weekday business hours and book up quickly. I decided to cancel the membership and there was an issue using the remaining two credits. The appointments were booked previously (over 45 days prior to get the therapist that I preferred) but when I came in to use one of them, I was informed that it was expired and would not be honored. I explained to the front desk that the credit was used to book the appointment prior to the expiration date of the credits –due to the therapists availability and she told me that it would not be honored. I asked to speak to the manager and explained the issue. When I cancelled my contract I signed something stating that the credits needed to be “used” within a certain amount of time which is fine … however, it did not state that the service needed to be completed just “used.” I explained that the credits were “used” for these appointments and that the staff allowed these services to be booked with credits and should be honored. I even offered to forfeit one of the credits and settle this issue amicably. The manager then told me no and charged my credit card without my consent or authorization. If you look up their BBB profile you will find many complaints with NO attempt at resolution. This particular location (Haymarket) has a managerial staff that are ill-equipped in dealing with the public and customer service issues. This is unfortunate, it’s a convenient location that could/should do very well if they were able to keep good people and offer good customer service. From now on I will go to Woodhouse Day Spa .. it costs more but I won’t be tied to a contract and will just go less frequently but know everyone there is excellent and I am valued as a customer.

Looks more like a scam than legit massage place, buy a gift card – try to use it, no luck after 1+ months. Been rescheduled 3 times already, with less than 24 hr notice … last time I had to drive to they location to be told that they have no spot for me and the system is to blame. I’m trying to get the money back off gift card – still no luck. Definitely got scammed – and receptionist is no use at all, kind of rude actually.

It was my first time at Hand & Stone and I had the best experience. When you walk it it’s super soothing and calm. All of the staff was very nice and welcoming in general. The person at the front desk (I think her name was Selena) was so sweet. I even heard her dealing with what seemed to be a rude customer on the phone and she kept such great composure and was so professional. My massage was equally amazing. Violet made sure to ask me what pressure I wanted and even offered me aromatherapy which was free for this day. She also was very respectful and made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole process. I would definitely recommend violet and this H&S location!!

Positive: Professionalism, QualityI really love coming here to unwind and relax. I have had a few different massage therapists, all good in their own ways. Kelly was the last one I had and she was amazing ! Thank you so much for making me feel comfortable and so relaxed. I always book a facial as well. Never really being that type that gets them I was blown away with how professional, and kind Denise is! So helpful and such an easy person to talk with. The only problem i would if there was one would be the system and making sure all my information is in one place. I have gone in 3 times since April and filled out a new waiver so they could do an update I’m guessing. Since then every time i come in I’m asked to update my paperwork. My first time at a spa so I really didn’t know what to expect or have anything to compare this to, but everyone there was very friendly…even the front desk. I got a facial from Pabrita that was wonderful. She was very professional and made sure I was always comfortable, relaxed, and felt ok. I felt more than ok! From the warmed “bed” I got into first, the face massage, scalp massage, just everything was so nice. My face looks so refreshed and smooth. To address a couple “issues” from the reviews from others…the room was warm, the bed was heated, and when something wet was put on my face, heat was blown on my face so NOT COLD! I guess you could say the room was “bland”, but who cares? You’re going in there to lay down and close your eyes right? The room was quiet with relaxing music playing and smelled good. Was perfect for me!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve had a facial and so I was really looking forward to a little pampering. I scheduled a facial with Emily at the Haymarket location and she was absolutely amazing.
