Diane, the owner, is a very curt and unprofessional individual. She had the audacity to hang up the phone on me this morning while I was trying to get clarification on some questions I had regarding the membership policy. Diane then screened my call and did not pick up when I called back. She did answer my next call attempt when I called from a different number. While I enjoyed past services I’ve received from Hand and Stone, I will never go back to the Bear location because I have no desire to give Diane any of my money. We live in a sad world where people think that they can do and/or say anything to anyone and not be held accountable. Diane told me that since she was the owner and had no boss, it was pointless for me to file a complaint. Maybe she’s right, but I told her that I was definitely going to be submitting a review. Do what you want with your money, but consider giving it to people/businesses that deserve it. Diane does not!

As an employee, I want to give you the insider view. Just a note: Not all Hand and Stone spas are created the same! They are run by unique owners. Bear and Middletown locations are owned and managed by a wonderful entrepreneur who shows a lot of care toward her employees. The attention that she provides to each employee trickles down into the quality of each service provided for each of our clients. These are the cleanest and most well kept spas that I have ever worked for, and therefore I must spread the news. You will be well taken care of here from the management, front desk to each esthetician and massage therapist. The staff communicates well and respects each other. Our manager provides us with continuing education, ample time between clients, and all of the products that we need. The linens are clean and even I am impressed by the layering of the sheets and towels that go into each service, creating a comfortable and truly disinfected environment. I admire the way this spa is run and I consider it a privilege to work in these locations, after 10+ years in my field. Well done, Bear and Middletown locations!

I have been going to hand and stone for many years and have always enjoyed my massages and experience. However recently my experience has become very frustrating. When I book appointments on more then one occasion I receive a call the masseur had to cancel when they try to rebook being the masseur is popular next appointment was 8 weeks out. In addition I book 80 minutes they only had 50 minutes could not fit me in.

Hand&stone massage, first time try. It’s very different compared to the Asian massage. It’s kind of like someone scrub your body with oil or salt(mint flavor). I can still feels the mint smell after I took a shower, actually I’m not a big fun of it. Probably I was chosen the introductory course. Anyway, It’s a nice and clean place to do the relaxation . But not a real massage place to relieve your muscle pain& stress. I can not even feeling the staffs’ hands power. (He was breathing heavily like a man on a steep mountain)

The girl who sold my boyfriend the membership lied to him about when i could have my first massage, so when i showed up ready to relax they said they wouldnt honor it. After i let my boyfriend talk to them because i have no idea what was agreed on, they serviced me. The manager was super rude and i made a promise to myself i wouldnt be coming to this location any longer. We called 2 months ago to cancel our membership as we both lost our jobs and can no longer afford it. The girl we talked to on the phone said she isnt sure when the manager will be in because she has a sporadic schedule, but she will pass the message on to her to cancel our membership and she would give us a call. She let us know we would be charged one additional month as a cancelation fee and then would not be charged any further. This morning i just received yet another $60 charge for services that we requested to be cancelled TWICE. This place has been nothing but a headache and a birthday gift from hell. The girl who sold my boyfriend the membership lied to him about when i could have my first massage, so when i showed up ready to relax they said they wouldnt honor it.
