I have had much better experiences at hand and stone compared to mine at this Stoneham location. Firstly, I booked a deep tissue massage and the masseuse said she can’t do that but she can do firm pressure, so I proceeded. She spoke several times throughout the massage. Also, she used a hot towel to wipe off the massage oil on my back before I turned over in the middle of the massage, when typically it is given at the end of the massage to wipe the oil from my entire body. Once I turned over, she removed the pillow below my knees right after finishing with my feet so I spent the last 15 mins laying flat. I also did a facial and the esthetician spoke the entire way through. She was not gentle on the face (only used towels to wipe off products and not cotton soaked in warm/cold water) and no treatment around the eye.

This review is for both Stoneham and Natick Hand and Stone. My husband and I have had memberships for over a year, and previously had no issues at the location in Hudson. We moved in spring 2022 to Woburn, so have been visiting the Natick and Stoneham locations. I am currently 31 weeks pregnant and have wanted to attend massages monthly to help with stress and pain management due to my changing body. For the last three appointments we have had scheduled, we received a call the morning of (about 2 hours before our appointment) saying that someone was out, I was scheduled with a non-certified prenatal therapist, or there was an incident with one of the therapists and she can no longer see men, resulting in my husband and I rescheduling our appointments. This is so ridiculous and none of these cancellations have been due to us. If we were to cancel the morning of, we would be charged, but if it is Hand and Stone’s fault, there are no repercussions. It is frustrating to look forward to a nice, relaxing massage all month, only to have it cancelled the morning of. We have been long time customers, but I think it is time to end our membership and bring our business elsewhere.

It’s been problem after problem at this location. Been a member for 5 years and I recently tried to cancel my membership since I just don’t think going is worth it anymore. Problems come up like not actually canceling my membership when I ask them to or not calling be back on several occasions. They’ve had frequent turnover in staff recently and the location just doesn’t seem to be managed well.

I had a membership, which I canceled in December because of Omicron. They told me I had 90 days from my cancellation date to use my final remaining session credit. They bill you for a final month after your cancellation date because I guess you don’t pay for the first month.

Came in for a special $39.99 for a facial. I was looking for a place I could visit regularly having newly moved to the area.

The location is very clean, neat, and beautifully set up. The receptionist was very welcoming and answered all my questions. I booked my appointment online a few weeks prior and expected to pay the introductory 79.95$ for a hot stone massage. When I got to the spa, the receptionist told me that price doesn’t apply to paying with a gift card, so I had to pay the full 129.95$ for a hot stone, which I was not expecting. There was also no indication of this on the website when I booked my appointment, so that was frustrating. Halfway through the massage, I asked my massage therapist when she would start using the hot stones and she said she didn’t know I had that added onto my massage. So I basically only got 20 minutes of what I paid an extra 20$ for. Also, the massage therapist was not the same woman I booked online with and there was no explanation why it was a different woman. The massage was pretty good and she got a lot of the knots out in my back, but the woman kept trying to talk to me throughout it, which made it hard to fully relax. My experience was not worth what I paid.

I tried Stoneham spa with a promo they had. It was a mixed bag. Facilities are nice, well kept, seemed clean/safe. I asked for a masseuse who was able to do a light touch and after several requests to ease up, I discovered that hadn’t been communicated to her. I would give the spa another shot, but would try a different therapist. I don’t know who has the $$ for massages weekly but they seem to have a number of repeat customers. I am not in that category I’m afraid.

Positive: Professionalism, QualityFront staff was calming and welcoming from the start, felt like the massage had already begun mentally. Massage therapist asked for what I would like focused on from my stresses and aches/pains, and did a great job carrying that out. Did experience some pain but I think it was needed, as this was first massage since the pandemic began. Usually after a massage I feel pain later in the night from knots not being fully relieved but had a good experience from this! Highly recommend! ALSO cold stones are great for this time of year, I know hot stone massages are popular but don’t sleep on the cold.Front staff was calming and welcoming from the start, felt like the massage had already begun mentally. Positive: CommunicationI had the pleasure of seeing Russell the masseuse. He was very accommodating on my massage needs. It is a nice atmosphere and even when there wasn’t any music, Russell made sure to check in with the frontdesk to get it back on.This was my first time here and I utilized the last minute specials via email. They do upsell with $15 each if you’re interested in treatment for your hands and feet but I personally don’t think it’s worth it – only a few minutes of a scrub, massaging and hot towels. It felt nice but I personally would prefer to utilize the time more into the body massage itself.Regardless I would still go back here now knowing how the atmosphere and jive of the place is.I had the pleasure of seeing Russell the masseuse.
