I am very pleased with the hospitality, the care, the socialization, and sharing that occurs, each time, I visit the shop. All consultants are highly skilled in natural hair, so their work is outstanding! I highly recommend the shop and staff to ALL, WHO pride themselves in wearing natural hair!

I’ve been a customer for over a year ever since I got my Sisterlock install. The salon is clean and well organized. The energy in the salon for me is always positive, professional and friendly. My loctician is Imani and I always feel comfortable in her chair. Imani is very knowledgeable about Sisterlocks and she gets the job done. I have to travel to get to Hairstory but it’s worth it to me. I trust her with my crown and will continue to support this salon. I also would recommend the salon.

I was searching for a natural hair styling salon, I was referred to hair story, called to make an appt to have a retwist on my locs. Makailia text me back to book a consultation. I was trying to get my hair done as well, so she requested pics of my hair and was insisting to just do a consultation and receive a deposit. This location is not close to me so I didn’t want to make unnecessary trips when I can do everything in 1 day. However I settled on the consultation and a different service appt. (Keep in mind these conversations r via text only over a course of a weeks time). I’m on my way to the salon in traffic so I would be arriving about 10-15min late. I texted her to let her know my eta, and she CALLS me to tell me that she won’t be able to do a consultation at that time cause she had another client….but I can still come to leave a deposit and reschedule a consultation…. girl, bye!!! No thank u!! I personally did NOT APPRECIATE THEIR 1ST TIME CLIENT SERVICE!!

I found this place by looking for Natural Hair Salons that would be able to do sisterlocks for me. I was set up with a consultation in November, and had 4 tester locks placed in my hair, and I was quoted a price for a dual installation. My installation date was supposed to be in January; however, three days before the installation I recieved a text from the consultant saying that she misquoted me and wanted an extra 300$ for the services. I expressed my displeasure with the situation and said I would be looking for another consultant. I asked for the paper that told me which lock patterns were placed in my head and I never recieved an answer.

I went to hairstory with the hope and expectation that the staff would have experience working with natural, curly hair. Markeisha cut my hair and by the end of my experience I was left crying in the bathroom by how terrible my hair looked. I brought in a picture and gave verbal instructions on how I wanted my hair cut and styled (a shoulder length curly bob cut that was longer in the front and shorter in the back). My hairdresser indicated she understood what I wanted and I requested that she take off a little bit at a time so that we could see where my hair was falling with the shrinkage factor as my hair started to curl. Instead she did a hack job on my head all in a matter of 10 minutes and did the complete opposite of what I asked, making the hair short in the front and long in the back. When she turned me around I was horrified to see that not only had she not followed my instruction, but she had somehow shaped my hair into the shape of a mullet!! The style was beyond repair. I am so disappointed and upset that my hair looks much worse than it did before walking into the salon. I don’t even own a wig but think I’ll have to buy one just to cover this mess. I don’t normally write reviews, but wanted to warn other women and save them from the experience that I had. The salon seems to do well with braids and locks, but if you’re just looking for a basic haircut, definitely find someone else. I will never go back there again to get my hair cut. Lesson learned.
