I’m a teen and my mom takes me to the salon but I told her that I don’t really like it because one of the people in the salon that does your hair with like the straightener and the dryer keeps saying to me put your head straight don’t move your head and she keeps saying that repeatedly in Spanish and my mom had that problem too with that same hairdresser when we weren’t moving my head and my head was straight the entire time also I’m not gonna hate completely because they do my hair really good but also what is up with these prices the same hairdresser that does my hair charged my mom $75 for two French braids with synthetic hair, but it wasn’t even too long and she did it really fast like it didn’t take a long time or anything once again I’m not going to heat completely, but some of these people are unprofessional, and the prices are just all over the place.

What is going on with the price’s of hair matics? I went their on Tuesday, they charged me and my mom $45 each for a wash/set. They said an excuse that my hair is too long yeah right, I saw you charge another person that had long and had to do roller she paid $35. I’m never coming here again.

I’m reviewing the Hair Matics in Inwood on Broadway between W. 204th and W. 207th streets. I have been getting my hair done here since the late 90s and I’m now in my 40s. Never, I mean never, have I ever had to deal with this unprofessionalism. First of all, who is in charge? And when do you actually come to work? Secondly, why are different workers collecting the fees and also changing up the prices on a weekly basis? I go every week, I started this in April 2022, and the last 3 times, I was charged $26.50, $28.50, and yesterday I put my foot down when the hair washer said that it was $35. My hair is below my ears and above my shoulders. This is thievery and should be corrected ASAP. Get a manager, make a list for prices based on the M-T and F-Sun schedule and stick to it. And lastly, please tell your employers not to make racist comments about white customers. It’s wrong, insulting, and ignorant. Especially when the one making the hateful comments doesnt even speak English.

I only get my hair done Tuesdays. But every time I go here, they charge me a very different price. Sometimes …it’s $18, sometimes it is $38, other times $36.50 and the following week it’s $22. It’s ridiculous. And when I asked the lady about the price changes, she got mad and insulted me regarding my age. This was an odd insult. My hair length is always about the same but prices are so inconsistent and random. They just throw any price at you and sometimes it’s so overly expensive that I don’t have enough to tip for anyone. I think I prefer to fix my own hair then be stressed out with these annoying unprofessional random prices.

The salon recently moved to a much smaller location across the street. The prices are still good, cheaper than most other places nearby. My favorite is Iris. She does a great job and she is very nice. They take care of you quickly and you don’t need an appointment.

Critical: QualityI came in to remove the color of my bangs and get platinum blonde but they didn’t listen when I told them that using bleach isn’t gonna work but continued to ignore me and now my bangs are 4 different colors and I have blisters from where they kept scrubbing into my scalp. Would not recommend!!!

Critical: Professionalism, QualityI was getting my hair dyed a blonde and I overheard them saying oh try this maybe it will lighten her hair. The fact that they didn’t know if it would work shows that they didn’t know what they were doing and basically experimenting on my hair. At the end my hair came out not even close to the color I wanted and I showed them a picture of what I wanted. I wouldn’t recommend getting your hair done here
