Critical: Quality, ValueWhen I made my appointment I was very clear on the phone that I needed a stylist that was able to handle long and very very thick hair on a plus size woman with a double chin because I was doing a dramatic transformation – long and thick to a funky pixie cut, which is something I have done before. I was paired with Danica and was assured that despite her being a level one stylist she could handle it.I brought in pictures of what I wanted and I fully discussed that I did not want anything posh or polished – I like funky and edgy and low maintenance. What I ended up getting was a two hour long appointment that left me with an uneven hack job that I couldn’t do anything with. When I called and spoke with the owner she had at first told me that sometimes it just takes awhile for people who do drastic changes to get used to the changes.. but I told her I have done this before so it’s really not drastic at all. When I mentioned that she told me that she would be overshadowing Danica while she fixed the mistakes and that she had recognized the unevenness in the before and after photos that were taken. I was definitely apprehensive that Danica would be the one to fix my hair since she was who messed it up, but I was willing to set that aside since the owner said she would be there as well. The owner ended up being busy with a foil next to us but I made sure to bring in extra pictures of what my hair has been like before to show them that I do indeed enjoy funky hair (think asymmetrical, partially shaved, and bright pink). By the time she was done the front of my hair looked like a shorter version of Johnny Depp’s Willy Wonka. Danica finally decided to get a second set of eyes, so we waited for the manager to finish and take over. The owner tried to fix it.. I really do believe she tried, but the end result is really just as bad. Sure, it definitely looks better than what it is.. but I passed no less than 4 old women in the store with the same short, weirdly tousled top, and have since seen a man in his 50s with the same style. Not at all what I want.. ever. She did offer me a great solution that I was happy with: she gave me a product that she thought might help style it a little better, told me she would give me a call in a few days in the early afternoon to see how my hair was sitting behind my ears and if it needed to be thinned out any further (surprise, it does) as well as to schedule an appointment with her in 3 weeks once it’s gotten some more growth. And here we are.. I still haven’t heard from her like she said I would, and while I can understand being busy I do feel like this probably should have been an issue that received priority. And since I haven’t talked to her I haven’t been able to bring up my payment issue to the salon: It seems like I have been overcharged for my service, as well. Danica is listed as a level one stylist, which is $31 for a haircut/style. I had a $10 off service coupon that I used. I left a cash tip. I was charged $33. She did shampoo and blow dry my hair (which I had thought was included, but maybe the blow dry was $10 extra) but even then it still doesn’t add up.Regardless. In hindsight, looking at Danica’s Instagram page has shown she’s only well versed in long, straight, and blonde.. with the occasional shoulder length bob that is also straight and most likely blonde. there’s nothing I can do now but wait for my hair to grow out and to find a new salon, and hope that maybe someone else out there will read this review and find a different place to go.Service: HairstylingWhen I made my appointment I was very clear on the phone that I needed a stylist that was able to handle long and very very thick hair on a plus size woman with a double chin because I was doing a dramatic transformation – long and thick to …More
