Critical: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, ValueTypically I go to my stylist in Hasbrouck Heights because well, she is amazing. Anyhow she was booked up quickly after salons opened and I could not really wait. I needed a trim before a weekend away. I decided I would give Hair Hub a try. They said they could squeeze me in for a cut but no blow dry, which would have been fine. When I arrived for my appointment the lot was full and one parking spot was taken up by patio chairs and a table. I found parking elsewhere. I called to let them know I had arrived, as was instructed. I waited for almost 10 mins before anyone came to greet me as I waited outside w my 4.5 yr old daughter. Until then they just stared awkwardly or pretended not to see me. When someone did come to the door they asked what I wanted and asked what my daughter was doing there. I explained I was getting a quick trim but no blowdry/style but my child did not need a service and was sitting w me. “She can’t come in!”- was the woman’s response. I was puzzled and asked what she meant. The woman told me “cant (I ) bring her somewhere/anywhere”.Idk where she expected me to just drop off my child. I pointed out we both had our masks on. This did not matter. I was confused and the woman continued “I cant have her in here”. I explained that I always brought my daughter like so many mothers. I had to ask about 5 times before she said “because of CoVid”….and the # of people allowed. I looked inside once again and the place was NOT full and everyone was spaced apart. I wanted to point that out but was already felt very hurt and discriminated against. Maybe I should have dressed up for them…..but that never mattered at any of the salons Ive ever been to which were muchmore upscale. I instead told the woman I would wait for one more person to leave and then come in w my daughter(even though no one had exited and they ssud on the phobe they would let me in). The woman shut me down again. I explained I did not understand why a child could not be let in. The woman asked if I had mentioned Id be bringing a child and I replied no, that if they had regulations on it they should have informed like they did on their other rules. She simply gave a cold “yeah I am sorry” and shut the door. Since June 22, I have been to eyebrow threading salon, the nail salon, and everywhere else w my daughter and have not had ANY issues. My daughter was devastated and hurt by this experience. When I called other salons to see their availability & inquired if my daughter would be allowed they were so puzzled and shocked by my asking such a question. When I shared my story they were apalled. Thankfully my desire to get a quick simple trim was accomodated later that day at Klip Joint, who has a lovely location on Warburton. The service was warm, friendly and professional.
