This shop is very chic. The decor is glam modern, there is a plethora of reading material and beverages for costumers. The prices are reasonable for the services offered. Rhonda is an extremely knowledgeable and talented hair dresser. She took time to educate me when I ask questions about my hair and she was really friendly. I have natural hair that I wanted blow dried flat iron and trimmed. Rhonda did an excellent job And I will definitely be back.

Where do I begin? I am new to the Ewing area I have not gotten my hair straightened in 8 years so I decided to test myself. I was so excited. Hair by Rhonda Kay was recommended to me by one of her clients that I met through a mutual friend. I have a decent following on Instagram and TikTok so I was going to support and show love to this black owned, woman owned business while documenting my experience. What was supposed to be a positive, content worthy experience was completely not. I booked a thick/long press and curl because I knew it would take some TLC. When I first arrived to the salon there was 1 person ahead which is fine but I was not greeted. When it was time for my turn I told her I detangled my hair as best as I could to which her response was try to get your roots better. Understandable. However, the stylist had an attitude the whole time she was doing my hair. I had to ask for a towel to wipe the water out of my eyes and the back of my shirt was drenched after getting my hair washed. She banged and stomped around so I tried to make small talk to lighten the mood but was met with half answers so I just gave up and just stayed silent. My hair was at an awkward of a spot in the process to walk out. After she was finished, she charged me TWICE the amount I was supposed to pay because “my hair took the time of 2 appointments.” Needless to say I will never get my hair done here again and my appointment will never cause an inconvenience to the shop again. The customer service was terrible and it felt like she was doing me a favor but I’m the one paying to get my hair done. I have never been treated this way as a first time client anywhere ever. My hair came out great but honestly I wish she just turned me away for a better experience. If anyone has any other suggestions on where to get a press and curl nearby at a salon that is natural hair friendly please let me know!

I finally located a stylist for “natural” hair, I feel I can trust. My appointment was 8/2/18, Rhonda was very friendly and professional. She asked me about my hair and expectations. She had no secrets when I asked what products she was using on my hair. Very relaxing atmosphere. My hair turned out great and style lasted as long as she indicated it would. Can’t wait for my next appointment! Thank you Rhonda!

I’m new to the area and was looking for a place that could do my natural hair. I made an appointment online easily for the next afternoon. The salon is smallish but very well decorated and clean. Everyone was very friendly and polite, and I was taken to a wash station immediately. I had originally booked my appointment for a deep conditioner with Rhonda, but was taken care of by Mikayla instead who did a great job with that and my two strand twists. The only thing I would suggest is confirming the beautician and the service being received when the customer first walks in so there’s no confusion. The prices were very reasonable and I’ll definitely be coming back.

Excellent salon. Clean, and stylish with free snacks for those waiting. We just moved to the area and needed someone who was able to be gentle with our daughters hair as she is very tender headed. Rhonda was amazing and had us in and out in half the time of our old salon. We will definitely be returning and are completely satisfied with the service provided.

If you’re looking for a soothing environment with some of the most talented hands in central NJ, then this place is worth checking out. My children were customers and they both were delighted and pleased with their hair styles.

My wife had a horrible experience here, unfortunately she isn’t one to be so outspoken when it comes to such things. The owner has a very poor attitude, maybe she was just having a bad day but you could sense the negative vibes right away. The work, not at all like she wanted and not like most reviews suggest…could probably have gotten better treatment and paid less at a run of the mill hair salon. Would not recommend at all.
