I waited until I washed my hair to write this review, to see if I had any heat damage. No heat damage!First, I was trying to get a hair appointment before my trip abroad. Even though Rae’s books were filled, she said she will see if she can figure something out and give me a call back—and she followed through! Rae was very friendly and welcoming when I entered the salon as wellThe salon is small, but it’s so cute and clean! They also have light refreshments section for folks waiting on service (water, chips, a coffee machine). Rae gave me a *very* thorough shampoo—which I make a point because a lot of more expensive salons do not. Princess trimmed, blow-dried, and pressed my hair. Princess was not scissor happy at all. She took measures to not tug crazy on my head because I am tender-headed, and she alleviated my anxiety about heat damage. Plus we had good convo :). The only thing I wish was that my hair was a bit more glossy in the end, but that’s not a complaint at all.Thankfully I live right around the corner from Hair By Rae so I feel like I finally found my hair salon homebase in Brooklyn! :)Services: Haircut, HairstylingFirst time customer. This review comes after going to the salon for 5 months (from May 2021 – October 2021). I originally went to the salon to get Microlinks and enjoyed the installation and overall outcome. When I first received my kinky curly Microlink install, I got a full wash, deep treatment, blowout and trim. I trim my hair every 3-4 months at a professional salon. The trim I was given was ok/standard, but not how I prefer it/my regular stylist does it, hence I planned to not get a trim from here again, but would continue for Microlink maintenance. I informed the hairstylist of my hair history given I had heat damage in a certain section of my hair and was provided a set of hair products by my regular hairstylist that would reconstruct the hair. Keep in mind, no product will fully revert heat damage, even if it’s a reconstructor treatment (i.e. Olaplex, which I use). I’m aware that it will have to be cut off over time, thus the reason for trimming every 3-4 months (plus for overall hair health I get trims seasonally).

I had my first experience with Hair by Rae and I absolutely love my hair. I am usually NEVER fully satisfied with my hair and I can truly say I got out the chair in love. Dezzrae arrived on time and was very professional and sweet. She answered all of questions and even followed up later on with more helpful tips, products, and videos. I have been in search for a stylist for quite some time and I’m so happy I’ve found her! She has gained a lifelong customer.

This is a wonderful black owned business. The functionality of the website is great. I was very happy with my stylist and the cost, especially coming to my home. It’s Convenient, she brought all her tools with her, she kept her mask on and everything was sanitized. She was professional and fast. Had my first experience with Hair by Rae today and it was wonderful. Marie was the expert hair braider who came to our home. My daughter is very tender headed and we’ve had bad experiences in salons before. Marie created a really beautiful corn row style and was always checking in with my daughter to make sure nothing felt too tight. Very gentle and kind and a gorgeous style in the end.

Wonderful experience using HAIR BY RAE, LLC from booking to the followup after I had my “lemonade braids” done. Lenny is a pure joy of a hair braider, she ensured I was comfortable with the experience and very efficient.
