Critical: Professionalism, PunctualityIt was my first time going, I had a 9.30am appointment and arrived at 9.16am. When it hit 9.38am I asked where my stylist was and was met with a very rude response. I explained that as a customer (especially being my first time) they ought to at the very least explain and apologise for the delay for which I was met with attitude. Eventually my stylist Amy showed up at 9.52am without an apology. After ripping through my natural hair with an Afro comb and blow dryer she proceeded to braid – it was clear from then that she wasn’t going to handle my natural hair well. The cainrows came out neatly and how I wanted but they are so tight that I am now going to take them out as it’s been a few days and I’m still in agony. She also didn’t do some single plaits in the middle of the bun so all the tension is in the middle where the hair has been pulled. She spent the whole time on her phone and proceeded to take pictures when she was done without even communicating with me. Experience reminded me why I braid my hair myself and don’t patronize such businesses. It doesn’t make you want to spend your money there or come back if the atmosphere is unwelcoming.Update: it’s now 3 days since doing the hair and I’ve take it out – happens to be the day before my birthday and I was hoping to have this style in. I started to develop red bumps around my edges and I’ve just had a migraine from all the tension on my hair. My scalp is so sore and tender! It was my first time going, I had a 9.30am appointment and arrived at 9.16am. When it hit 9.38am I asked where my stylist was and was met with a very rude response. I explained that as a customer (especially being my first time) they ought to at the very least explain and apologise for the delay for which I was met with attitude. I’ve had box braids twice, Senegalese twist and micro braids. In spite of some of the bad reviews I read prior to trying their new location; I still called to schedule an appointment. The morning of the appointment I arrived on time; only to see there were more clients than actual braiders. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out the equation here. Long disappointing story short, after about ten minutes of waiting and trying to come up with my plan B, I was asked if I could come back. No later time or day specified. Just can you come back? That was my last straw. I walked out!I know things happen and places get busy, yet the unprofessional manner in which they handle multiple situations are unacceptable for paying clientele. These are not $30-$60 hairstyles so don’t treat my business nor time as so. Have one person to schedule appointments in the appointment book. And stick with it! Have a clear easy to find, pre calculated price list. And note that length and thickness of hair can affect those prices. Hold yourselves to a higher standard and deliver the professionalism that consumers deserve. Making those adjustments could possibly make this place the best hair braiding studio in Saint Louis instead of “claiming” to be one!It’s so unfortunate that I have to rate this place at a one star. It’s so unfortunate that I have to rate this place at a one star. I’ve had great experiences with them in the past. I’ve had box braids twice, Senegalese twist and micro braids. In spite of some of the bad reviews I read prior to trying their new location; I still called to schedule an appointment. Today however, no one showed up at all. I called ahead due to covid. I was told to show up at Noon. I did, but the shop was locked. I waited 20 mins before calling. My calls were being forwarded to VM. Despite leaving a message, I never got a call back after being left in a parking lot for several minutes. Its extremely unprofessional.
