I was searching for a new local hairstylist and they were quick to book me an appointment, as well as greet me with radiance and positivity both in person as well as the moment Helen (owner) reached me on the phone. Both Leah and Helen worked on me and my daughter’s hair and were ecstatic with the quick results. Pricing was very affordable, as well.

I am new in town and have been looking for a stylist for some months now. This is the second salon I’ve tried. My hair is my thing and I take having a good haircut seriously. My experience here felt very rushed and my haircut turned out flat and basic. Hardly any layering or face framing pieces. The stylist was courteous and made polite small talk but it seemed like she wanted to be done quickly. I was in and out in under 20 minutes and that includes getting my hair washed and having my eyebrows waxed (one of which looks thinner than the other). Maybe the salon was just having an off day but I will continue looking for a stylist elsewhere.

Being that I am not from the area, I wasn’t sure what to expect when pulling up to Hair 51. I wasn’t more than 3 feet in the door when I was looking around thinking, “This is Fabulous!” — no exaggeration. I’ve never been in a small, independent, salon that was decorated so chic! In addition to the main salon for the women, there’s a small barber shop, and two tanning beds there too! One of the things that attracted me to the place was that they’re a Paul Mitchell salon. Big fan of his products. The owner, Helen, recommended that I try the deep conditioning hair treatment. With my long, course, curly, color-treated hair, it didn’t take much convincing. These locks need as much TLC as they can get. While I was sitting under the heater allowing the conditioning treatment to process I had the chance to look around. One of the things that caught my eye was this chalkboard that had a handful of inspirational quotes written. Apparently the owner and her team of gals share new positive words of wisdom on a weekly basis.
