After going here I’m just upset I’ve been going to salons for such a long time and paying almost double for less. I’m a mid 20’s guy and I’m really picky about my hair so I was nervous, but it’s one of the best cuts I’ve had in a while! Walked in and got a cut right away. The price was very reasonable and the experience was great. If you’re on the fence about going here just do it, you won’t regret it. The shop was really homey feeling and laid back which is also a plus. More expensive isn’t always better!

I’m fairly picky about my haircuts and used to bounce around to different barbers in the Lake County Area until I went to Mel’s and got a great looking cut, just the way I asked. Needless to say, I’ve been going back ever since. She’s dependable and you can’t go wrong here!

When I went in I simply wanted to trim my hair towards then back because I was growing out an undercut. I specifically stated I did not want the fringe/front of my hair cut at all, but the barber did not follow my instructions at all. Instead of getting a simple trim, the barber cut my hair all around to about half the length I originally had it, setting me back months in growing out my hair. It’s outrageous to charge $16 for a haircut if you don’t even somewhat follow the instructions someone gives when you cut their hair. I can assure you I never plan on getting another haircut at Gurnee Barber shop, and I would advise against anyone getting their haircut there.
