I was there for a hair wash at the Downers Grove location. This is the first time I was at this location and first bad experience for wash. First the person who helped didn’t do a thorough job at washing – didn’t rinse out all the product of the hair, and just combed the hair out. Basically left my hair dripping water, without drying at all. When asked she said she would charge me for a haircut if I wanted her to dry my hair and I said ok to that as well as I wasn’t leaving the premises with wet hair. She barely dried my hair and said I was done, I wasn’t happy with that at all..if I am paying for now wash – 6 and haircut – 14, total – 20 to dry my hair, I wasn’t going to leave without drying me hair. I thought it was only fair for her to dry hair atleast 80-90% and I asked her to do that before I left..she wasn’t very happy but still did it as asked.

If I could give zero stars I would. The stylist that I was with was all friendly in the beginning but as soon as I said what I wanted done with my hair it all went south. No friendly chatting anymore and it’s not even at the worst part yet. I told the stylist (Nina) that I just wanted about 4 inches taken off, and I’ll admit that I kinda went with getting layers when she suggested it. But as soon as she said “Do you want curtain bangs?”, I said absolutely not (I’ve gotten them in the past and they DID NOT look good on me). Fast forward and near the end of the service I noticed that my hair looked shorter than 4 inches, I paid then walked to my car. My sister, who was also getting her hair done said in the car that the stylist gave me curtain bangs and cut my hair much shorter than 4 inches. It has taken me a long time to grow out my hair. My hair is the one thing that I truly love about myself. But Nina, god even knows if she has experience with cutting hair, had to ruin that for me, yeah I know that hair grows back but it’ll take up to maybe a year or two to have my hair the way it was again. I wouldn’t be this snotty about it if she would’ve cut my hair evenly too. Never going back to this location ever again.

My experiences at this location are often pretty mixed. You can end up with a very friendly and competent stylist on one visit, while on other visits the stylist can be actively unfriendly. Difficult to offer a fully positive recommendation, though there are some great stylists here.
