We tried to use this business on two different occasions. On the first occasion we parked in the handicap spot behind the store and the back door was locked. I went around to the front and asked them to open the back door so that I could get my handicapped mother in through the back door. They refused. I asked again and they refused again so we had to leave. I should have called the fire department. About a month later, we tried again. Parked in the back and I knocked on the door. I was signaled no! And motioned me to go around the block to the front door. I signaled and pointed to my 87-year-old mother on her walker saying no we can’t go around the block (long walk and curbs) to please open the door. With a disgusted look the door was opened for us. I got my mother from the van to the door, and we were asked if we had signed in online. I responded that yes we had signed in but the only choice was a haircut and my mother just wanted a shampoo. We were abruptly told that they do not do shampoos. Since we were already inside, I asked if she could make an exception and said that we would be happy to pay for a cut or style or whatever. We were told NO we do not do shampoos and she motioned for us to leave. So we left. I do not understand why a place with sinks and set up for doing shampoos could not make an exception for an 87-year-old who had taken the effort two times to come try to get her hair washed. They did not have a single customer and there were two stylists. We were the only name on the list. It was an hour before they closed. We will not try Great Clips in Chevy Chase ever again. I understand if they decide to stop doing shampoos but the combination of not opening a door at the handicap ramp for a person on a walker and the rudeness are not ok.

I’ve gone here before and gotten pretty mediocre cuts, but that’s expected as it’s Great Clips. Last time I tried to go I was told they were cash only without any warning from pre checkin online. Not their fault necessarily, but great clips still sucks for that, waited in traffic for no reason. Today I just tried calling to confirm they weren’t cash only before driving over and no one answered first call. I tried recalling and this time they hung it up first ring. Lazy employees all they do is sit in there and gossip.

After two plus years (post lockdown) of uninterrupted hair growth, I decided to end the long hair experiment by getting the hair clipped at Great Clips, and they did a swell job! The cut looked and felt pretty great, and must have taken years off me because I got carded at the Kroger later on when I bought some beer. They’re fast there, too. I’m pretty sure I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. I’ll definitely go back.

I have used this Great Clips in the past (2 to 5 years ago is my recollection) and have noticed a significant drop in good customer service here. Today I was told as a walk-in customer that the employee would not do a beard trim because it made them uncomfortable. Nothing on the corporate website for Great Clips or the web page spotlighting the 846 East High St. Great Clips said that certain services may be unavailable because employees may choose to say no. Both employees currently as the 846 East High St. Great Clips were very rude and refused to cut my hair when I asked if other Great Clips businesses in Lexington KY would also refuse to do beard trims. I won’t be back to this Great Clips.

Usually, Great Clips is the only place that I take my kids to because the staff is awesome in kindness and knowledge. But this last time, the hair stylist was a little short with rudeness towards my 11 year old daughter. I will continue to frequent their establishment but I will not allow that person touch my kids hair again..
