Funky Rooster Tattoo and Art Gallery is a fun and colorful custom tattoo shop and art gallery in downtown Elgin. We’re just a bunch of friendly people who get excited about creating great art. Stop in to check out our art on the walls, all created by our shop artists, and talk to an artist about a tattoo idea you may have. Our tattooers work with a variety of styles of tattoos, from realism, to traditional, new school, illustrative, custom lettering, blackwork, geometric line work designs, etc, all in full color or black and grey. We are located on the East side of the river just minutes from the Metra train station and the Grand Victoria Casino. We opened in 2013 and have loved being a part of such a creative and artistic downtown.

All the way from booking to getting the real thing was such a pleasant experience. I’ve always wanted to get my first tattoo but most shops intimidated me. Sarah’s whole personality was amazing to work with. She was patient and answered all my questions that I had and even made sure that my first tattoo was perfect for me sizing and all. I’m so happy I finally found the shop that suits me! I will 100% be coming back for whatever my next tattoo might be. When Sarah told me she was going to be able to custom my tattoo to match my dogs ears I was absolutely ecstatic with joy. Sarah ran through it all from making sure it was what I wanted down to helping me understand the after care steps of my tattoo. Thank you soooo much! Funky Rooster has some real talent over there. Critical: Professionalism, Quality, ValueI heard a saying that went “cheap tattoos aren’t good, good tattoos aren’t cheap”, but unfortunately, the tattoos at Funky Rooster are neither good nor cheap. My tattoo was very overpriced for the quality I received and ultimately did not give me what I wanted. I was charged $400 for a substandard tattoo. It was overall an immensely stressful and disappointing experience. This is the best Tattoo place hands down. They’re friendly, they do great work, and it’s a wonderful atmosphere. Great art work great artists.. love this place. I will only get my tattoos from them.

Couldn’t even get in, I asked for an appointment, got a response as to what I wanted and never heard back from them even after reaching out to them again. A simple no could have been fine.
