Been getting my haircut with Jimmy for the past couple of years. Always makes an effort to accommodate the client’s time schedule and ensure quality cuts. He’s usually booked on the weekends so make sure to call about a week in advance to secure a time slot. Have only had my hair cut from Damon once but he’s a really cool guy. Would highly recommend!

Jimmy is a fantastic barber. He is unique in his memory – he remembers how you like your hair cut and it looks the same every time, unless you ask for something different, which he is happy to accommodate. The service, the ability to schedule appointments, and the little details like his use of thinning shears and straight razor make him the best. Highly recommended.

Jimmy (barber) is great. My girlfriend also compliments my haircut. Its very clean and crisp. It is a personalized style for each person and not a ‘cookie cutter’ haircut. Jimmy spends the extra time to trim up around the ears, gives clean lines to the temple area, and the back of the neck. 5 stars. Great price and perfect cut.

There are lots of barbershops which do their best to look like they came out of the 50’s or 60’s but it’s all pretty synthetic and staged once you look past the veneer. Fred’s started in 1961 and the shop looks like, well, 1961 including the old style chairs and furnishings. Fred retired some time ago and the shop exchanged hands twice since then. Nevertheless, it earned a reputation of being one of the best barber shops in the Los Angeles area. The current owner, Damon, has genuinely held up that reputation along with the two other barbers he employs. You really get what you pay for here. Old school skills rendered with modern updated equipment. The work isn’t just good. It’s thoroughly finished down to the smallest polished details. You can’t go wrong here.

For starters the guy is insanely rude. I felt like he left my hair uneven and asked if i may come back another time since he had someone else waiting for a long time and just wanted to be courteous. He refused and shoved my change back at me. Secondly, he insists on combing out your hair with gel still in it (I went to cut my hair straight after work and was on a very tight schedule) and even after i asked if he can soak it so the comb can run smoother with less hair pulling he still did not listen. Secondly, he uses a brush to remove loose hair that made out of harsh straw and is very irritating on the skin (Im no barber but i know there is softer brushes he can buy and if he doesn’t have the budget he should’ve probably managed and prioritized his money to his business considering cutting hair is still partly customer service). I was able to look past all the comfortableness but shoving someone change back at them is extremely unacceptable in any professional business. If you have a bad day, do yourself a favor… dont bring it to your business then maybe you wont be so empty at all hours.

Jimmy is long gone and you can’t count on the one hack of a barber that’s there to deliver a decent haircut. In his defense, he may have a serious vision defect.
