Rose and her sister are so nice. They did a great job on my daughters hair for her graduation. I will be going back soon to get my hair done.

Critical: Cleanliness, Punctuality, Quality, ValueI went to this place 2 times but the second time I knew I’ve been getting robbed. I referred a friend who’s daughter received medium single $120; I received the same ones but longer the first two times for $250. By the the 2nd time I got the same as what my friend received for her daughter and they still charged me $250. Shorter than what I’m used to getting and I still was charged $250. This place is a RIP OFF! Impatient workers. She wear a short hair cut and usually works on the end in the back and there’s one named BaBY who just hates everyone she works with and it’s like she’s being forced to work. . Critical: Quality, ValueI tried to like this place and I’ve been several times but each time I wonder if I should go somewhere else. They’re fast and somewhat friendly but they braid way too right. This last time I cringed every single time and I kept telling her it’s too tight. Every time I give directions or show a pic I wind up with the exact same style- too much hair, and too little parts (which means it’s too heavy) – and a headache. It’s convenient as far as the time it takes, but I don’t think it’s worth your edges. UPDATE – I definitely loss some hair this last round and my edges suffered.I tried to like this place and I’ve been several times but each time I wonder if I should go somewhere else. if you’re getting box braids, this is a great place to go. They will do them the size and style you want, the parts are clean, and they work very quickly, which anyone who gets braids knows that they can take forever. Every time I go here they finish my braids in 2-3.5 hours…other places I’ve been take up to 6 hours. just make sure to come with your hair detangled beforehand

This is my second time here. Rose did my braids the first time and I LOVED it. Came here a second time, rose was on vacation but I came anyways. The older lady was SO RUFF. It was insane. I have all natural hair and blow dried my hair prior to arriving, but she felt the need to blow dry it again. I thought no big deal but was so ruff that another staff had to step in because it was so ruff. Every time she started a braid I was legit cringing. I texted Rose prior to arriving to the store to ask if the hair was included she said yes and also on pricing. I get to the store and they said no hair is not included and the price we agreed on was too little ( what?!). They continued to ask if I spoke French ( I’m sure they wanted to make sure I couldn’t understand before they talked about me ). Needless to say I will not be back and planning on taking out these braid only a week after I got them done. If you care about your edges do not risk it.

This is the worst hair experience I have ever had. I have a full, ~15 inches of natural 4c hair and have never had issues with my edges or hair falling out I came to First Lady Hair looking for a simple crochet braid hairstyle. The stylist completely DAMAGED my hair in two ways: (1) She braided it so tight that it left a bald spot on my edges. To be clear, I repeatedly asked her to braid looser and also asked her to take out two braids and re-do them because they were to tight. However, still the resulting braids were tight enough to lead to semi-permanent hair loss on my edges. While this may eventually grow back, this will take a while and was simply avoidable, especially since I asked several times and (2) Unbeknownst to me, they also CUT OFF at least TWO INCHES of my NATURAL hair after they braided the hair. I do not know how this happened but am assuming that they accidentally cut my hair assuming that it was the synthetic hair (again, my hair is relatively long and they must have mistaken my real hair for the fake hair). Worse yet – I did not discover this until I took the hair out 6 weeks later. When I called and shared some of these issues with the salon, Rose did not even offer so much as a refund or complimentary service. In addition to the actual damage done to my hair, overall the experience in the salon was actually TERRIBLE. They had two people working on my hair at one time, pulling and tugging and snatching at my natural hair. Overall, I would recommend finding another place in the Boston area that actually knows how to manage natural hair and who will not inadvertently cut inches off your hair or leave you with bald spots. Everything that could go wrong with a simple style like crochet braids did go wrong. Attached is a photo of the bald spot the left in my hair.

I have went here several times but this last visit I was disappointed. I really loved how an 8 hour braid job takes 3-4 hours with the multiple braiders. But this last time I got my braids Rose used a braiding holder that matted my hair. My 3c/4c hair is not strong enough for a month of hold. When I took out my hair CHUNKS of curls were coming with it. I reccomended my roommate to go who has 4a/4b hair and it happened to her hair as well. We watched some much hair rip out. Shedding from braids is normal but CHUNKS of hair should never come out. In the future I recommend changing your jam hold.

I have had problems with my daughter getting her hair done at this place before so I really don’t know what possessed me to go there. I guess laziness or being impatient waiting on my regular stylist. Anyway, I will share my story. I went in there one afternoon. There were two women braiding one woman’s hair. I asked them how much they would charge for Senegalese Twist. They do not answer me but instead want to take a look at my hair. I take off my wig and show them my freshly washed and blow dried hair. It is short but not too short to braid. As I stated previously, I have a regular stylist who has been putting twists in my hair for over 4 months now. After they converse in french, they tell me that my hair is too short for that style. I explained to them, “No, no I’ve been getting this done.” So I show them a picture of my hair in the style that I want. They insist that my hair is too short and tell me that I should get Box Braids. So I tell them that I didn’t want Box Braids, I want Senegalese Twists. They have me sit down and I once again ask what will it cost. The older lady walks over to a chart that has the different braid sizes and brings it to me. I select a size and once again ask the cost (This is the third time I am asking). So she rakes through my hair once again, mumbles something about it being too short again, then talks to the younger woman in french. The younger woman asks her how much does she want to charge. Mind you, I do not speak french but I am good at reading facial expressions and body language so I guess this is what she is asking. Oh yeah I forgot to tell you all that I brought in my own hair with me and I have three packs of the double packed, pre stretched Kanekalon hair made by Xpressions. This is plenty of hair. I showed them in the beginning after they asked if I would be using their hair. Finally the older woman, kneels down and whispers so that only I could hear and says, “$200.” I repeat back to her, “$200? in disbelief, because in my mind I am thinking they just told me my hair was short, plus I have my own hair. I am confused. She then looks at me and says it’s because there are just two of them. What? I get my hair done by one person in her house and she uses her own supplies and charges $170 and that’s a bit much but I like her so I am willing to pay her that price. She just so happened to be unavailable that day and I really needed my hair done. In the meantime, a gentleman walked in and asked them to Cornroll his hair into straight backs. The younger woman was entertaining him in the same manner a shark stalks its prey however I digress. The poor woman who was previously getting her hair braided was left on her own while they tried to beat me and the gentleman out of our money. I got up and left out of that salon and will NEVER return. No thank you. The sad thing is I like the owner. This is bad business on behalf of her staff.
