I had been going since the place opened, over ten years. They had amazing stylists, great prices, and I always felt beautiful when I went. But over years, all the great stylists I loved left, one by one…I’d call to make an appointment and each one “no longer worked there”. The past few years it’s really gone downhill, the stylists are inexperienced and never got my hair right. I left with dye still on my forehead and my hair was never what I wanted. One time my hair was FRIED, after highlights and instead of caramel highlights on my brown hair- they were orange. I called to see if they would fix it, and I got the feeling the owners wife would have told me no had I not mentioned how long I’d been a customer without a complaint…the only problem, to fix it, they had to cut A LOT of the fried hair off, I WAS TRYING TO GROW IT. It went from medium length to shoulder length.

Love this place!! Particularly Liz, I call her the mad coloring scientist. After another place BOTCHED my hair so badly I came in wearing a scarf around my head, Liz went to work. She probably had to mix 8 different colors to fix my hair because it was so uneven, but she fixed it…and my hair only had to go through one process!! I absolutely loved it!!

I got a simple up do done and liked it. The horrible part was 2 days later when I washed my hair and it was falling out! After having to waiting a day to talk to the girl who did it, I got no answers. I was not rude or blaming anyone. I just explained what happened and asked what she used. I was told that it had nothing to do with them. Both the girl who did my hair and the RUDE receptionist refused to tell me the products that were used in my hair. (Which I simply wanted to know so I could stay away from it in the future.) They tried to tell me it was normal. NO it’s not normal to have a ball of hair sitting in the shower drain the size of my palm for TWO days after washing my hair! (Meaning, yes, each day I had a ball of hair in the drain.) They said “it was just an up do…The product doesn’t matter!” “Maybe your body’s changing or your stressed.” I’ve never been so mad, after that conversation! How could you be so rude to a customer?! I paid for my hair do and I tipped! Why is this how I get treated?! It’s simple we all make mistakes. I can forgive that. But to be rude and deny it and tell me lies like “that’s normal.” That’s bad for business people! A friend of mine called and asked the products they use. And that is how I was able to find out. Needles to say I won’t be back there ever again!

Felicio was featured on the front page of the Boston Hearld some 20 years ago, that is when I started making the 50 mile trip to have my hair done. Sure over the years I have cheated on him and regretted it every time I looked in the mirror. He and his team are all experienced professionals who are always attending hair classes to further their knowledge. I read one review complaining of the price for a color, highlights and a cut I was $125, I come from Boston where that is the price for a cut without a blowout. Someone said they were not good with thick,curly, kinky hair, that is not what I have seen when I have been there. I have seen, Felico, Genevieve, Francisco, Leslie and Brooke work on all hair types and have amazing results. Martha runs the show and does an amazing job, my mother comes along and 9 times out of 10 wants to add something she is not booked for, cut, highlights, etc.. and Martha always makes it work so my mother is happy. Francisco is my colorist and he is amazing, always slightly changing the colors for the season so it looks natural. My only complaint is I put on a few pounds each time I am there, Felicio is always running to the bakery and bringing back fresh pastries for everyone in the salon to try and the nearby restaurants are amazing, have this as your diet cheat day. My recommendation is leave the city , head to New Bedford for the best hair experience you will ever have .You can have your hair done, go out to lunch and it will still be less than what you would pay in Boston for just a cut.
