Today was my first appointment with Gianni and I cannot recommend her enough if you’re shopping for a stylist that does shags/mullets/wolf cuts. I’ve always wanted a wolf cut but I was nervous because I have a round face and some damage on the left framing of my hair (from my own hands), but Gianni made me feel so confident and comfortable about the cut. She explained what she was doing and made sure I mentioned everything I wanted and didn’t. She was an amazing listener when it came to the consultation. She was so friendly and easy to talk to, there was never an awkward silence moment. I’m absolutely obsessed with my hair, she layered it exactly how I wanted. I have thin hair so she used specific techniques to give the illusion that I have more hair than I actually do.

The guy who answers the phone is snarky and rude. I wanted to go back to get my recent haircut cleaned up with a different stylist. I had gone very short and there were some weird layers I needed fixed, so I wanted to get their most experienced person to help (and I wasn’t looking for a free cut, I was happy to pay for the fix, I just wanted someone with the most experience with very short women’s hair, as there was no room for error). The guy refused to let me book with anyone else and was so abrasive I decided to go to a different salon and pay for a whole new haircut. I will not be going back to this salon.

Critical: ProfessionalismI recently had a cut and color (balayage) here. Initially I thought my experience was great. The stylists were super nice and I felt like I was being very clear on what I wanted my color to be. After everything was done I told my stylist my hair color was nothing like the pictures I showed(it barely looked like anything was done). I spoke to the owner Robert and he first tried to say that my hair didn’t look the way I wanted because it wasnt curled( seems suspicious) then he said they could reschedule me and fix my hair to my liking. After calling back to reschedule I was told that Mandy the stylist “explained to me” that my hair would not look like the picture because it would damage it. THIS WAS A COMPLETE LIE! When I told the owner this was never explained to me he than said it would take four or five sessions to get the look I wanted. There was not discussion of this! If the stylist could not achieve the color I wanted than I would have shopped around and found a stylist that could. Instead I am now out $335 for my hair to look the exact same. The unfortunate thing is that if I was TRULY explained that my hair could not look the way I desired I would not have spent the time to go to this salon.I recently had a cut and color (balayage) here. I decided to get a haircut at Essensuals London after calling and inquiring about they’re safety precautions during the pandemic. They took my temperature on the way in, sanitized everything, and kept a great deal of distance between customers. VT cut my hair and she did an amazing job. She has a great attention to detail and is a pleasure to talk to. I highly recommend this salon and VT as a hairdresser.

Critical: Professionalism, Quality, ValueDo not get balayage here!!I’ve been going to this salon for three years and was always relatively happy with my services. They recently brought on a new balayage colorist (she doesn’t know how to do balayage, she does ombre), I had a horrible experience and will not go back.I showed her exactly what I wanted via photos, it was the exact same color I had from my previous colorist there. I said I like my balayage connected at the root. As she was coloring I could tell she wasn’t doing this so I asked her to please at least connect the front pieces that line my face. She said she’d try (it ended up still an inch+ from the root). I left with ombre, there was a hard line at what should be two months of grow out (~2 inches from the root). I couldn’t tell how bad it was until I got home because their lighting is so poor. I was then out of town for the following two weeks, was coming back for a haircut and was planning to tell Maddie then that I was super unhappy. One of the owners who was cutting my hair, just said he doesn’t mess with color situations and he was staying out of it… that’s not the appropriate move when you are the business owner. The irony is I was trying to do it the kind way – instead of calling to complain about her, I just planned to mention in person I didn’t love it and ask her to throw in more color and connect it (as I very explicitly asked from the start and she ignored). Instead I was lectured for not calling within the two weeks timeframe and that they have to charge for my additional service to correct it. She then continued to lecture me about what balayage is and how it’s supposed to look… I have been getting balayage for 10+ years and I have super easy hair, she is just inexperienced and her method is novice. She paints ombre, not balayage. I was then lectured by the receptionist, Meredith, she was so rude. I was in shock as I left the salon, that they valued a new colorist’s ego more than a loyal client. The customer service was horrible and the situation was dealt with terribly. My hair was a complete waste of time and money (almost $300 with tip). I went to a new salon and the colorist was surprised at how bad it was, fortunately he was able to correct it. I would not recommend Essensuals based ability or customer service.Photo for reference. That was right after I had it done, two+ inches from the root with no blending.Service: Hair coloringDo not get balayage here!!I’ve been going to this salon for three years and was always relatively happy …More

I am so happy to have found this salon. It is a lovely, fun place to be. Good music. Very clean. Highly trained, welcoming people who make you feel as if you are their favorite client. I am very specific about what I want and they always over deliver. I’ve gotten exactly the color I wanted from Robert and exactly the haircut I wanted from Nick every time. This is one of the best salons I’ve ever experienced and the best in Seattle.

Great teamwork between Robert and Jason who cut and color my hair. I can relax at the salon because they’re always reliable. They know their customers and offer experienced advise. It’s a little pricey, but I do get peace of mind.
