My family lives on the western slope of Colorado where Dermatologists are few and far between. Central Colorado Dermatology is very busy, and as a result it takes quite some time to be fit in for an appointment. After waiting several weeks for our appointment to look at my young son’s foot, then driving two hours, Central Colorado Dermatology briefly assessed the foot and referred us to a Dermatologist in Denver. We drove all the way to Denver where two Dermatologists from the practice stated that there was nothing wrong with my young son’s foot. They stated that Central Colorado Dermatology should have known this. Time is not on my side. This was a disappointment.

I visited Dr Echols (no use for Timko, either) in May and was diagnosed with Staph. If she had taken the time, which I doubt, to look at my records, she would have noted I have been on a prolonged course of topical and oral steroids for eczema. She did not physically engage me, standing back with arms crossed and made her diagnosis. She prescribed antibiotics and more topical steroids. Why not a topical antibiotic, I asked after two weeks of realizing the steroids weren’t working? Now it is June and I have come to realize I am in topical steroid/steroid withdrawal. Hot red skin, flaking, oozing and hair loss are some of what I am experiencing. My eyes and lips are the worst.This may take a month or even years to recover from. It is debilitating, to say the least. Both physically and emotionally, and there is nothing to do but refrain from steroids no matter what and heal myself the best way I can figure out with the help of a support group. Checks in the mail and thanks for NOTHING.
