Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, ValueI’ve lived on the island over 26 years and tried many salons in that time. I’ve been with Rachel, the owner, for years before she even opened Enlighten, 15 years in all. This very upscale salon is far above any other salon in professionalism, knowledge, friendliness, quality, and cleanliness all with a group of very talented ladies. One review claimed they were treated rudely. I simply can’t imagine anyone in this salon ever being rude. That’s why they win the Best Salon On The Island year and year. I’ve lived on the island over 26 years and tried many salons in that time. I’ve been with Rachel, the owner, for years before she even opened Enlighten, 15 years in all. Samantha is the person you want to do you hair for your wedding day hair, for any special occasion, and for a color/cut ! Sam arrived early and completed everyone on time. Sam’s attention to detail is excellent and the hair she created with her artistry was striking! She also stayed with me for touchup’s throughout my wedding day. However, there was nothing much to touchup, as my hair kept beautifully all night, despite having my wedding photos being done outside in 100 degree weather. Another very importation aspect of her talent is her personality. She is very supportive, calming and positive which was much needed being anxious on my wedding day! I’ve also been going to Sam for two years for balayage and she transformed my thin, damaged hair and made it long and thick! I get compliments on my hair all the time and I owe it to Sam!

I just called to try and give this salon business because it was refereed to me as being the place to go. Guess, I was wrong. We are traveling from Boston and renting a home here on Hilton Head to renew our vows with our family. I wanted to come in with 3-4 woman to have our hair blown out and maybe get make up application. The women simply stated we aren’t capable of having groups of people. Salon looks large enough and has 4 stations? She didn’t even ask the date to see if she could accommodate. You can’t be that busy, and even if you were there are other ways of trying to accommodate a paying customer. Not a good first impression….

I called this morning to make an appointment based on a referral who suggested the salon. Marie, who answered the phone and claims she is the manager, made my appointment for Saturday. I let her know I have an event Saturday night and needed to get in this week before. She wanted my credit card Incase I didn’t show up to charge. I was in the gym and let her know I would call back in a couple of hours when I had my card. I call back same day, 6 hours later when done with meetings and life calmed down. She tells me she gave the appointment away because I had to call back within an hour and it’s “policy”. Why didn’t she tell me about the “policy” earlier. She Didn’t even attempt to call me. She had my number and clearly didn’t care. As a matter of fact, she was rather rude to me about it and didn’t feel bad at all that I’m now in a bind. Rude, pretentious attitude, and no sense of customer service. Don’t waste your time.
