I came here to get a service by a wonderful stylist who no longer works here. The white manager is extremely rude and prejudiced towards black people. I believe her name is Kristen. I spent the majority of my stay listening to her nitpick at the only black stylist. I’ve heard her make extremely inappropriate comments about her clothing as well as accuse her of making a mistake that was actually made by another white “gentlemen”, who of course, was not spoken to with HALF as much accusation and unkindness as she had spoken to my stylist. Kristen radiates white, classist, racist, and judgmental energy. My stylist was awesome though! Shame they had to lose such great talent over their own lack of respect and integrity. EDIT: I find it extremely telling that you only have passive aggressive comments to make about Christina, while also not acknowledging the many discriminatory acts you’ve made against her, stylist or not. She may not have been licensed, but she was your employee and gave wonderful service (more than just a blow out so i’m not sure why you insist on reducing her to that when she most certainly offered more services??) , unlike you. not sure how she wasn’t a stylist when she’s performed multiple services for many different people that was beyond a blowdry. is this some type of loop hole to get free labor?? anyways, i’ve never had a conversation with you, actually. i’m sure you usually save those for your white customers!

The first few visits took me some time to find a stylist that I enjoyed and that ended up being Paul. He ALWAYS does a great job coloring my hair (full balayage) and getting my tone perfect every time. Some places/colorists will make the color too brassy or yellow, but Paul has really gotten it down for me. Another amazing stylist is Cyrus. She has given me some my best haircuts! She really knows how to give tons of layers with lots of volume. I’ve been going here for about 5 years now and been going more consistently in the last two years. The first few visits took me some time to find a stylist that I enjoyed and that ended up being Paul. He ALWAYS does a great job coloring my hair (full balayage) and getting my tone perfect every time. If you are looking for a quality haircut for a reasonable price, call here and ask for Paul. Paul cut my hair for around 3 years now. Before I found Paul, I tried a half dozen places in the Decatur area. The honest truth is that sometimes the other places did so poorly I had to go back to Paul to fix it. He would respond with a sympathetic “oh man… what did they do?”. Paul is the most knowledgeable hair stylist I have met. My head has no less than 5 cowlicks and grows out like an untamed chia pet. Paul not only remembered how it grew but knew how to manage it to fit the hairstyle I wanted. On top of that, he remembered my occupation (teacher), family, and whatever else we had talked about. I am sure everyone at the studio is great but ask for Paul, I am confident you will be happy with your hair.

I was lucky enough to have Louie cut my hair right before the pandemic started. Fortuitously I told him I was planning to grow it out long so I was looking for a cut that would look good without constant haircuts (not knowing it would be 10 months) The cut held up perfectly and I went back this week to finally get a trim. I’m so happy with my new haircut. I highly recommend this Salon and especially Louie!

I live in Columbia, SC and drive to Emily J Aveda Salon to have my hair colored and cut every 6 weeks. They have several fantastic stylist at this location that really know what they are doing. Very professional and courteous. They stay updated on the latest fashions and have always been helpful to me in choosing the right color or cut. The make-up tips I received was the topic of conversation with my friends when I got back to Columbia. Just love being taken care of. I would recommend Emily J Aveda Salon to everyone. It’s not just a salon it’s an experience. You can’t go wrong with this salon!!

I’ve been going here now for about 1.5 years. I see Paul, who is a really gifted color artist, managing to salvage my hair after several terrible dye jobs at a different salon. He makes my boring brunette hair look healthy and sunkissed, never streaky, and he’s super nice. I will agree with other comments about some of the reception staff who can be kind of hit or miss. Some sound knowledgeable and organized, others sound super young, confused, and clueless. After they had to reschedule my appointment, I called a few days later to confirm. Glad I did: the confused sounded receptionist had gotten the make-up appointment wrong by two weeks. That would have been a huge bummer before a trip. I think the prices are very reasonable and the staff well trained. When in doubt though, call and double check that everything is what you want it to be. BTW, they have a great $50 keretin “light” treatment that doesn’t take forever, doesn’t smell, and makes your hair feel amazingly healthy.

Worst hair color I’ve ever got. First the junior stylist started showing me the prices. I was surprised to see a 200 charge for simple highlights by a junior stylist. Well I was there already so I decided to try the place. I went for few brown highlights and ended up with red batches and severely damaged hair. Their first response to resolve the problem is to cut my hair shorter to get rid of the damaged hair. They did not even apologize. Everyone commented on how bad my hair looked and I ended up going a week later to Ulta to fix it. My only option was to cut it shorter. This is the worst experience and worst hair salon I’ve ever tried

Had a great time at the salon. First time here, they have a nice working environment and great team. Meredith did a great job with my hair, she make sure i was happy with the new colors and style. They gave me a delicious tea and fruits. I enjoy the time there, and relax, with background music.

Very pleased with my cut and color from Lexyy – I’ve seen her twice now! She takes the time to make highlights look natural – I got babylights and LOVED it. Even though my go-to is a partial highlight, Lexyy is down to discuss other options for color in the future and their pros and cons for my hair. The cut has also been wonderful – she does a great job layering my super thick hair. The salon is clean and has a fun atmosphere – the giant TV wall plays music videos, SO COOL. I also appreciated getting a quote for my cut and color at the beginning of my first visit. There wasn’t any pressure to buy products or schedule my next appointment, which I appreciated.
