The Edmund Center was established in 1997. It has grown to four locations where more than 25 therapists help you relax and de-stress. All of our therapists also specialize in treating chronic pain, postural and biomechanics issues, athletic and countless other soft tissue injuries. Our therapists have over 100 years of cumulative experience and have performed over 200,000 massage sessions. Each therapist is Neuromuscular Certified. Aromatherapy
Is the use of essential oils of your choice added to your massage.
CranioSacral
Is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system – comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
Deep Tissue Massage
Involves using direct deep pressure of friction applied across the grain of the muscles. This direct pressure works by physically breaking down these adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement.
Ear Candling
Is an ancient universal form of therapy used by many cultures around the world to relieve tinnitus (ringing in the ear), swimmers ear, reduce excessive sinus pain and pressure, assist with headaches, and help to unplug ears that can relieve itchiness and symptoms of allergies.
Erik Murray – LMBT #5111
Erik graduated from the New York Institute of Massage in Buffalo, NY in 2004. Erik has been practicing massage therapy for more than 10 years, during which time he has accumulated hundreds of hours of additional training and thousands of hours of applied experience with a wide variety of clients. Erik applies his knowledge and experience to each massage he performs, and believes there are various benefits to all massage modalities. He incorporates different techniques into every massage, tailoring each session to the individual client he works with based on communication and his evaluation of what he observes. Erik is a lifelong swimmer. He competed both in high school and as a Division 3 athlete in college. He now enjoys open water swimming. In the past 4 years he has completed the annual 4.5 mile Lake Waccamaw “Take the Lake” endurance swim. On New Year’s Day he can be found swimming with the dolphins at the Top Sail Island “Dolphin Dip”. Erik is certain based on client experience and feedback that massage therapy improves physical and mental performance, aids in healing and pain reduction, and enhances wellness.
Hot Stone Massage
Uses heated basalt stones as tools both by gliding over the skin and being placed on certain areas of the body. The heat from the stones relaxes muscles and increases the blood flow to the area being worked on which further accelerates the healing process.
Jason Isenhour – LMBT #5772
Jason is a native of Concord and graduated from UNC-Charlotte with a BFA in Art Education. He is a graduate of the Edmund Morgan School and has been a Licensed Massage Therapist at the Edmund Center in Cornelius since 2005. He is Certified in Neuromuscular Massage Therapy and has received training in Swedish, Reflexology, Hot Stones, Lymphatic Drainage, Muscle Release Therapy, and Thai Massage. In addition to Deep Tissue Massage sessions, Jason often employs gentle stretching to aid in the release of stress and tension held in the body. This helps to increase the benefits that massage therapy can bring by allowing joint mobilization while in a relaxed state. Often clients make extensive gains in range of motion after a single session. Jason is now accepting clients and continuing to explore new modalities in order to bring something refreshing and new to each session.
Jessie S. Mullen DC, CACCP
Dr. Jessie S. Mullen completed her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth. She then went on to receive her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, NY. Dr. Mullen specializes in the treatment of children and pregnant women. She is certified in the Webster Technique, which helps to correct sacral misalignment and balance pelvic muscles and ligaments, allowing the baby to get into the best possible position for birth. She received her bodywork training at the Edmund Morgan School where she earned certification in Neuromuscular Massage Therapy. Additionally, she offers Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage and plans to further her studies in advanced sports massage techniques. Having completed half and full marathons and studied dance for over 12 years, Jill has an appreciation and understanding of the demands an active lifestyle puts on the body. She strives to improve her client’s performance and help them recover from injuries, improve range of motion and manage stress more effectively. Currently Jill is enrolled in the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program offered through Duke Integrative Medicine. Kimberly has always had a passion for health and wellbeing and began her training in 1991 at Central Connecticut State University working towards a degree in Health and Wellness. In 1999 she graduated from the Humanities Center of Massage Therapy located in Pinellas Park, Florida. She is licensed by the state of North Carolina and certified by the National Certification Board for Massage and Bodywork Therapy. Kimberly recently graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication. Kimberly holds advanced certifications in Neuromuscular Therapy and Myofacial Release. MEG Smeaton NC Rolf Practitioner – LMBT #7325
Meg is a graduate of The Guild for Structural Integration in Boulder Colorado. Structural Integration is a specialized 10 session series focusing on lengthening and opening the connective tissue (fascia) thus enabling the muscles and bones to drape properly. SI is a process of re-education of the body through movement and touch. It systematically releases patterns of stress and impaired function. The primary focus of Structural Integration is facilitating the relationship between gravity and the human body. Massage Cupping
Is the application of various shaped cups that suction onto your back, drawing out the body’s toxins. The cups are left on and moved around the body. After they’re removed, you may be left with circular marks, called a ‘cup kiss’ in varying shades depending on the amount of toxins in the body.
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT)
Is a specialized form of manual therapy that utilizes static pressure on specific myofascial points to relieve pain. This technique manipulates the soft tissue of the body (muscles, tendons and connective tissue) to balance the central nervous system.

Prenatal or Pregnancy Massage
Is massage therapy performed during pregnancy after the first trimester that can reduce anxiety, address the inevitable discomforts associated with the skeletal and circulatory changes and relieve muscle aches and joint pains.

Relaxation Massage or Swedish Massage
Uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation and ease muscle tension.
Rolfing
Is a holistic system of soft tissue manipulation and movement education that organizes the whole body in gravity. Manipulation of the muscle fascia is believed to yield therapeutic benefits, including that clients stand straighter, gain height and move better through the correction of soft tissue fixations or dystonia.
