This is the best place for quick in and out. Just like the name says it’s dye and fly. You can dry your own hair, have a blow out, or leave with it wet. Danielle is amazing! Recently seen Lindsay for some Carmel color highlights on my jet black hair…. And I am Inlove! Never liked color on me ever, I always just loved jet black. But she really did her thing with these highlights, the Carmel color is blended very beautifully and neat. Super sweet and nice girl. 10/10. Definitely recommend!

AVOID! First came in May and June/July for face frame low lights to my natural salt and pepper, and all went well (Dominique was talented, kind, and customer oriented). Then all fell apart in August. I was headed to the EU for a month and needed to look my best. Even though I was able to book Dominique online, when I arrived I was told he was on leave so I had another colorist. She first turned my hair purple, then to “fix it”, covered the purple with dark dark brown. I had no additional time to rectify before departure, so while in the EU, that mess turned into a bizarre rose bronze color. I basically looked like a clown – it was humiliating! When I returned, I called the owner and asked if he would fix it. He said he would and seemed like he actually cared about his customers. My bad! I went back to the scene of the crime! Owner booked me with Erin (sp?) promising to brief her on my sad situation. When I arrived tonight, excited to look like a normal person again, Erin said the owner had never spoken to her and even though the rose bronze ridiculousness was staring her in the face, she was almost hostile, berating me to tell her why I was there and what I wanted. I called the owner, who promised to speak with her but never called to the best of my knowledge. Then Erin, after examining only the hair at the back of my head (which had never been colored!), announced that the only thing she could do is remove the terrible color and do nothing else, because I am “only going to get more gray”. Ah, yeah, that happens to every human, unless you color! And you work for a salon that supposedly specializes in color! After a bit more abuse, I decided to leave. In a moment of clarity, I realized I had no trust in this business – neither their technical abilities nor their “customer service”, at least at the Royal Oak location.

I desperately wanted to like this place. The concept is genius for busy women and I was genuinely excited to try it. When I walked in, the environment was unwelcoming. No stylist in the entire salon smiled or formally greeted me. I stood there awkwardly as they stated my name. Throughout the process it seemed the stylists were silently bickering over mundane cleaning tasks. I wasn’t familiar with how the whole model worked so was surprised that I would blow dry my own hair in the end. That ended up not being an issue really; I loved trying the variety of products suited for damaged hair. They worked! My highlights were okay but didn’t adequately cover my greys or roots. Within a week, it looked like I needed highlights again. It also took quite a bit longer than expected, by about an hour. Erin was kind and attentive but there seemed to be a hostile undertone coming from other stylists. This seemed weird considering I was the only person in the salon. Everyone was standing around looking at the cleaning products but not doing anything with them. The weird dynamic honestly made for a very awkward experience. Not horrible…but wouldn’t go back to this particular location.

Amended 11/29/22: The owner of Dynfly contacted me almost immediately after posting this review. He said he wanted to make it right so offered a complimentary appointment at their West Bloomfield location. The stylist I had there was SO much better than the original stylist at the Royal Oak location. She definitely knew what she was talking about. The one thing I didn’t appreciate was overhearing the owner refer to me as “THAT Alison girl”. While the issue was fixed, I still will not be returning to Dynfly. I will be returning to my previous stylist — a better job with a cheaper price! Just do your research! I do appreciate the timely response from the owner after posting the initial review however this style of “salon” just isn’t for me.

First time to use dynfly. Electronic communications were excellent (via email & text). Highlight results were disappointing. My choice of words/pic did not convey my desires sufficiently. Erin listened, yet her process ultimately did not meet my goal — ‘chunky’ silver highlights. Blowout area needed attention — brushes should be cleared of all hairs and floor swept. Will try another location, see if they get it right.
