Critical: Professionalism, Quality, ValueI went there a few years back to get my hair done. I called first to make sure they had availability and that they knew how to do what I needed. I was natural and wanted to make sure they knew how to cater to natural hair and I wanted blonde highlights in my virgin hair. I had just taken some braids out and my hair was very oily and my scalp was dirty, which I wanted because I wanted my hair to be as protected as possible. I called and set the appointment and they told me who would be doing my hair exactly and at what time. When I walked in ON TIME this girl caught me at the door and asked what I needed. She was so happy and excited I thought she was the one who was supposed to be doing my hair. So I came in and sat down in her chair. At first I thought she was consulting my hair by she clearly had bitten off more than she could chew and was not prepared to deal with my thick long 4c hair. She tried to detangle it with a small tooth comb and I had to explain to her she needed to part it with her fingers and start from the bottom preferably with a brush. I should have gotten up there and then when she asked me could she wash my hair before bleaching it. As she started on my hair I could tell that the parts were uneven but I was praying for a miracle at that point. The whole time she was doing my hair I could hear the other workers whispering under their breath “mmmmhmmmm” “I can already hear the tears” “uhhh no”. Immediately I called back up because I knew it was going to be some issues. Y’all when I say I went off the job was terrible. Uneven and patchy, I had highlights in my damn edges. The other shop ladies were trying to explain to me that it was not there job to stop someone if they were doing a terrible job, that they don’t ask questions if someone states that they can do a certain hair do, they don’t ask for qualifications. All in all it was a terrible experience, some black folks can’t be trusted, this is not a shop of women that know what there doing. It’s a shop of people that work there with different qualifications. One may know how to do one thing and the other doesn’t but she still gonna offer to do it and expect you to pay. I had to go to the beauty supply store next door and get some dye to cover up the highlights.
