I have visited this salon serval times and always have had a pleasant experience. The stylists are skilled and easily rejuvenate my 4B curly hair to a sleek style with a bit of bouncy curls. The individual stylists are all great, but the company/store is really going downhill fast. They are always out of basic hair products, running late for appointments, short-staffed, etc… I used to come 2-3 times/month. These days, I’m searching for a new salon.

The concept, the salon, and the friendliness were all 5 stars hands down! (The appointment process isn’t great – they use a calling service that’s not actually in the salon so they can’t answer even the simplest questions.) I knew going into this appointment that most stylists for this concept salon may not have worked with short hair and that’s ok. I worked in the hair industry as a marketing professional for over 5 hears so I knew there would be some modifications. I asked for my hair to be styled similar to a modern pompadour as the hair on the top of my hair is longer. But the point of me going there was for a treatment which I received and it’s great. HOWEVER, the styling was ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!!!! Just because someone has short hair does not automatically mean you need to use the smallest flat iron available to you (which is what she used). I literally came in looking better than how I walked out. I could immediately tell she didn’t really know what to do as she was blow drying my hair – it wasn’t even dry all the way but again I needed a treatment and I could forgive that but to walk out and look worse is not what I was expecting. I don’t even think she flat ironed every piece of my hair. Luckily, I didn’t haven anywhere to go afterwards because I would have been absolutely embarrassed to go anywhere looking like this. Because I understand the industry, I still tipped and bought product but I WILL NOT be back again. I wanted to be able to actually find a place in MD that I could go to faithfully but this isn’t it. They need to be trained on ALL hair lengths. I feel like someone stole from me from me based on the money i spent (almost $200) and the outcome.

Critical: ValueI was honestly so excited for my first appointment at drybar this morning and I’m leaving totally disappointed. I’ve heard nothing but great reviews from friends who use Drybar and I’m sure it varies stylist to stylist but I was not impressed with my appointment whatsoever. Appointment was 10 minutes late, I had added on a 10 minute scalp massage (which as a busy mom was the main thing I was looking forward to) which was pretty much nonexistent during my shampoo. They had no hot water so the entire shampoo was freezing cold on top of it.I had selected the Cosmo tai hairstyle looking for loose, casual, beachy waves and when she was finished it looked like Shirley Temple ringlets that I had to sit there and brush out to get them remotely looking like what I had signed up for. The style was totally flat on top with zero body which was disappointing since I wanted this to last throughout the weekend, and I feel like I could’ve done a better job at home instead of taking time out of my day and spending $45 on it. I feel bad because the stylist was very sweet. The only positive was that I was refunded the cost of the scalp massage since I had mentioned to them the stylist didn’t really perform that service but other than that I had a pretty disappointing first experience and I’m hesitant to go back. I was honestly so excited for my first appointment at drybar this morning and I’m leaving totally disappointed. I’ve heard nothing but great reviews from friends who use Drybar and I’m sure it varies stylist to stylist but I was not impressed with my appointment whatsoever. Sorry others had bad experiences. I am a black woman with extremely curly hair. I expected some discrimination/inability to do my hair since this is a national chain. I had the opposite experience both times I’ve been here. I experienced great blowouts both times.
