Critical: ProfessionalismAprilApril Carothers is a very shady and unprofessional stylist. Be careful she’ll offer deals and discounts to get you to keep coming but may not follow through!December 2020, I met April for my 1st service. After looking at my hair, she recommended a cut to even out my hair and a keratin treatment deal as a BOGO for $200. My goal was to lighten my hair, but the treatment was recommended to help repair my hair. I listened and trusted her advice. I appreciated the keratin treatment and wanted to know when I should book the 2nd one. She stated about 6-8weeks later.January 2021, I booked a coloring appointment to lighten my hair. April recommended to do one color (my natural color) before lightening since I had different colors in my hair. April described it like “working on a blank canvas for a painter”. I appreciated her advice and just had it done with my natural color. I asked when should I book the next appointment for the lightening, she stated about 6-8 weeks. At that time, April told me she was closing her loft and rooming in with another stylist. She stated that she will only be at the Westchase on Monday’s.One week later, the color did not hold well on my grays. I came to see April at the new salon loft she moved into. When I showed up, April was sitting in the salon chair and the stylist she roomed in with was taking out her hair extensions. 30 ministers later, I was able to get the recoloring service. I did not tip since it was a redo and I had to wait 30 minutes. That’s probably when things might have turned for the worst.March 2021, I booked my coloring appointment. April cancelled the day before due to COVID contact and test results. Totally understood and rebooked appointment on April 12th. Remember now she’s only in Westchase on Mondays.April 12th, April cancelled this appointment on the morning of! No explanation, just a recommendation to go see another hair stylist. Texted her but never responded. I was concerned since I did not receive the 2nd keratin treatment that I already paid for.I booked my final appointment on April 18th at her St Petersburg location. Arrived and no one was there. She never responded to my text messages nor phone calls. I used my husband’s cell phone to call her and she miraculously answered. I asked if this is April, and she says yes who is this, I told her who it was and that I’m outside the salon in St Petersburg. She said she had to cancel all if her appointments this weekend due to her blah blah blah bs. She said she never received any of my text messages – however communication was never an issue before.April offered a free service for the next appointment but I told her that I was done with her and would like to receive a $100 refund for the paid keratin service she did not provide. She agreed and I gave her my Venmo. Thankfully, April sent the Venmo and responded with a message that did not pertain to the reason why she was refunding me. Hope this review was helpful! I will no longer do business with this stylist.April – it won’t be necessary to respond to this review with your fake apologies nor sincere hope that I find my “forever stylist”.
