This is a convenient and fair-priced spot to have our children’s hair cut. The owner (Amanda) is patient with wiggly kiddos and has a few toys stowed in case you are waiting or have siblings in tow. My only critique (and it has caused me to take our business elsewhere) is Amanda keeps a flatscreen tv on in the salon and the programming is not always appropriate for children. One particular time it was the tv show Once Upon a Time. I politely mentioned I didn’t think it was for children’s viewing but Amanda responded saying it was “just fairy tales”. I’m familiar with the show and it’s not created for children. My 5 kids were ages 8 down to 1 at the time so it was not appropriate for us. I didn’t feel that Amanda responded in a way that was accommodating or respectful to me as a parent. I’d prefer the tv be off but my opinion doesn’t seem important.

From toddlers to adults we were very pleased with our experience. My son has had his last 2 hair cuts done at designing kids and there have been no tears and both have been very quick visits with great looking cuts. The owner has scissor cut his (as requested by me) and used a quiet electric trimmer around his ears and neck. My son gets to drive a race car while getting his haircut which he loves. I had my hair colored back to its natural color and cut I loved the way it came out (wish I had a better picture) but we’ll be continuing to return to designing kids.

Affordable haircuts and our stylist was very patient and good with a moving target. I previously took my kids to a place in Glastonbury but it was extremely overpriced considering they cut about 3 hairs. I will only take my kids to Designing Kids from now on.
