I don’t normally give reviews either good or bad, but I thought I would give a slight warning. It took three months to get in to see someone that wasn’t a doctor but a doctors physician assistant. My concerns were mild, so that did not deter me. The front desk lady was very nice and welcoming. My appt was at 10 but I didn’t go back into the room until 10:10 or so. No biggie. I told the nurse my concerns, gave me a half PAPER gown. Yes. I was cold. Again, no biggie. The assistant physician came in and did a full body check and didn’t address my concerns except for removing some skin tags in various places. She walked out. 5 minutes later her assistant came in and started giving me shots in the sensitive areas where the tags were. I was in so much pain I almost passed out. So she gave me some juice, leaned me back, got a fan on me. Which was great. Very fast acting and knew what to do. She was great. She left the room. I waited for the physician assistant for 5-10 minutes. She rushed taking the ones that were numbed, off, and then had no concern for my pain. I couldn’t take it anymore and decided to stop for the day. She quickly threw off her gloves and said ( as she walked out the door) “ if you want the rest removed, you know where to find us”.. So, in reality I think the office is more about quantity and money than quality and care.

I had my first all body scan and specifically for an inflamed mass on my forehead. I originally had an appointment 3 months from when I scheduled, which was quite far away but not unexpected. I ended up getting an earlier appointment based on a cancelation. My experience was nothing but positive. My wait in the waiting room was minimal but my wait was about 15 minutes once back in the room. I expected some delays and based on being scheduled last minute I was just happy to get some answers regarding my concerns. I was scheduled with PA Meg Jez and was asked by the receptionist if I was open to see anyone in the practice which I was. Meg was very friendly, thorough and knowledgeable. I valued her opinion and trusted her recommendations. I had none of the issues others referenced but I believe my expectations were in line for a busy specialist practice which prevented me from being disappointed.

I had been searching for a great dermatologist and a great office, and I’ve found it. A couple friends recommended Dr. Pickup. Scheduling has been simple enough, I haven’t had to wait more than 10 minutes to be taken back. Sometimes I do wait a while once I am in the room but I know this is because Dr. Pickup takes her time with each patient. I have had two melanomas – one years ago found by the first dermatologist I had and one that Dr. Pickup caught when I went in for my first visit. She is very knowldgeable and thorough. I appreciate that they take pictures of moles to keep an eye on them – I haven’t had a dermatologist do this before – even my dermatologist I went to at Vanderbilt in Nashville. Just know, if you have to wait, that the doctor is just busy saving lives (like mine!) and plans to be just as thorough with you. I’ve only seen Dr. Pickup, but she is wonderful and I’d recommend her to anyone.

I really don’t understand what everyone is complaining about. I’ve been seeing Dr. Pickup for years, and she is rated as one of the best dermatologists in the city for many years now. I never feel rushed. She does my full body exam (fair skin with lots of sunburns in the remote past), takes off my precancers and occasional keratoses. Once in a while I get a little bit of filler. While it’s “preventative,” it’s still seeing a specialist and you must pay up. Whenever any kind of “cutting” is done, that’s SURGERY. There are few dermatologists around, especially superb dermatologists – that’s why there is a wait, and when they check your concerning spot, or do your full body check and see nothing, then it’s time to put your clothes back on and the appointment is over. If you need to feel better about yourself, make an appointment with a psychiatrist or psychologist. The derms have other things to do, like remove cancer.

I recently had a new patient appointment with Tara Lair, PA, and have to say I will be finding another dermatologist for my year follow up. From the time she walked in , I felt rushed and felt like my concerns were not answered. She didn’t even touch me to check certain areas I had concerns over and she stood back with some kind of light and just shined it over my entire body from head to toe and just kept saying the same thing over and over. It took me longer to disrobe and redress than the time she spent with me. I felt that I did not get a good evaluation at all and again no quality time spent with me. What a waste of my copay that could have been used for other things!! I won’t be recommending this practice to anyone.

I visited a few weeks ago for a body scan. It’s a totally preventative visit, and is actually advertised as a “free service” at any other visit to the office.

I called as a new patient to make an appointment with one of the doctors, for an annual cancer check. They were able to make an appointment with me for approximately two months out for the earliest. Not great, but oh well. However, when they sent me the paperwork to fill out, they had the name of the person I was to be seeing. Turns out it was not a physician, but rather a Physician’s Assistant. At no time did the person taking my call advise me that they were scheduling me with a PA and not an MD. Only by their circling the name of the person, and my recognizing the initials after their name, did I realize what they had done. Not cool. I just now called to cancel, receptionist made no inquiry about the reason for the cancellation, or if I wanted to reschedule. Their loss.

While my daughter and I both really like Dr. Panch, we have had scheduling issues two different times at the Anderson office. Her appt card will have a date and time on it and then when we show up they have her scheduled in the computer for a different date. It is very frustrating since she has to take off work for these appointments. The first time they refused to see her and made her reschedule for a month later. Thankfully the second time they begrudgingly fit her in.
