I made an appointment over at Dermatology and Skin Cancer Center of South Carolina on March 26, 2019, for an issue with my nose. The first thing the doctor wanted to do was go over my whole body. He found 2 concerning areas and sent them off to biopsy. They called me when the results came in saying it was melanoma and I needed to come back in for surgical removal. Told me it would be a simple procedure 2 hours. On April 24th I went to the appointment. When I got there I was taken back to a room and asked to remove my top clothing lay on my stomach ( nurse tech?) and they proceeded to numb areas for removal. Then left a little while later Joseph M. Masessa came in introduced himself, asked me a question, cut me off then proceeded to do the removal. Then I was left in the room for another 30 mins alone. Finally, they came in and bandaged me up to sit in the waiting room. I waited almost 2 hours and finally, they called me back to stitch me up. First, the tech nurse was in and out of the rooms not being able to find supplies. Then she started stitching, Joseph M. Masessa popped his head in and replied you’re cancer free took that tech out and sent in a different one I guess worked faster. When I got home I looked at my chest neck area where they took the skin graft and I was angry. I still have not gotten an answer as to why he took the skin from there. I had to go back to them on May 10th. ( I was supposed to have the stitches removed but I was informed by my regular doctor who is my dog client that they looked unready) So I called and they had me come to the office here instead of MB. They removed half of the stitches and cleaned areas. I went back on May 14th to have the rest of the stitches removed. On May 29th I expressed how angry I am about this area on my chest and the scar it’s going to leave. I was told that was a appropriate place for a skin graft. They immediately said we need to do a recheck of your body. I told them no. From my neck down will be handled by my personal doctor. After that they pretty much rushed me out the door. Its been over a 2 months and its still red and sore. Still feels like stitches inside the wound. Oh, and my nose issue the whole reason I went, they completely forgot about it. Never went over the pathology report with me I had to go to my regular doctor who explained the results to me. STAY AWAY FROM HERE!

Miserable experience. Waited almost an hour beyond my appointment time at my first visit. Went back a month later to get the results of an age spot biopsy and waited over an hour beyond my appointment time. When I finally saw a PA, she gave me the results in about 3 minutes. There was absolutely no need for me to wait for over an hour for a 3 minute communication that could have been delivered in a phone call. I will not go back. There is complete lack of consideration for their patients’ time.

I have NEVER in my life seen a more unprofessional office in my life! My child is on accutane for acne. He is only on the second month of this medication (was told it could take 6-9 months) and we had to wait almost 2 weeks for the first prescription because the office failed to give insurance the appropriate information, and fast forward to second month prescription and we waited a week for the same reasons. Now my child is having severe back aches and issues to the point I told him to quit taking it BECAUSE I’ve called the office 5 times in 10 days and they will NOT call me back to advise me on what is best to do in this situation.

Same problem everyone else has. They take weeks to get the rx to the pharmacy and it’s nearly impossible to get anyone on the phone, if you do, it’s nothing to be placed on hold for upwards of 30 minutes or more. They do not return phone calls.

Had an appointment with who I thought was going to be an actual dermatologist, medical doctor but turned out to be with a PA (physician assistant). We talked about having 2 minor procedures done that day but only one was completed. When I got my bill almost a month later they billed me for both procedures. I called the billing company who was worthless to speak with. As long as the office sends it over to them it must have happened so I called the office several times. I spoke with the office manager and explained the problem. She acted like I don’t know what the hell happened to me at MY appointment. She said she’ll look into it , speak with the PA and get back to me. It’s been almost a week now and haven’t heard from anyone. My next move will be to visit the office in person and confront the staff and notify my insurance that they’re committing insurance fraud.

This was a horrible experience. I told my concerns I was told it’s age spots, ok well I am getting older, but is it normal for them to crack and bleed and was told yes and handed a sample of a cream you can get over the counter at cvs and sent on my way. No real examination no nothing but a glance . Told a mole was also an age spot however babies have moles so I know that is not correct! Was concerned about precancerous cells wasn’t checked! Don’t waste your time, go to cvs get your own cream because that is what you will get here!
