Critical: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, ValueMy mom went here through a mutual friend. And the owner is quite unprofessional, she stated that she followed up, calling from a number not associated with her shop. She never left a message to state who she was and then prompted to tell my mother that she could not service her when the appointment was already scheduled a MONTH in advance. Not only that she has fine hair and the last two styles pulled out a section of her edges. And DeeDee already knew her hair was fine and still installed medium to large braids. When you are a business you follow up professionally and then you stick to your word. Now you have upset client who will never return. I don’t understand how you can be wrong and mean to people who are paying you. No you don’t have to accept all business, but when you do stick to your word. Call for an appointment for goddess braids I was given an appointment @2:30 price of $60.00 when I got there they stated my appointment was not confirmed. What???. So I had to wait 2 1/2 hours. To get so call goddess braids that did not look like the picture. Then had the nerve to up the price to $100.00 for 5 big braids. Then told me I had to let my hair air dry. NO Hair Dryer . Waste of money. My hair look nothing like the picture.

I made an appointment in October to get crotchets. I had to come back to the salon the next day to get my hair fixed because the crotchet hair was falling out, which exposed entire braids. That same night, I returned to school in Ohio. Less than a week later, I experienced the same thing. My crotchet hair was falling out which led to entire braids being exposed. I immediately called the beautician and told her that her work was unacceptable and that I would like a refund because I couldn’t leave school and work to come back to Illinois for her to redo my hair again. I was then told that my request could not be honored but when I come back, she would work with me to fix her mistake. At this time, I took my hair out of the crotchets and had to get my hair done at a local salon near my school. I informed the beautician of this and even asked if she wanted pictures of proof that I took my hair down, in which she did not respond. When I finally was able to come back to DeeDee’s African Hair Braiding, I was told by the beautician that her mistake was no longer her problem. Very horrible customer service!!! As a college student, working 20 hours a week while maintaining a 3.9 GPA, I felt taken advantage of and misled. I spent much money to get my hair done, only to experience a nightmare. Please do not waste your hard earned money at this salon. (I added pictures above).

Might have the best hair technicians in the world, but I wouldn’t know because of the ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE customer service. First call I asked if they could do the braids I wanted and if not what kind of braids could they do. All I got was “no, no, no, no.” And was quickly hung up on. I waited about 2 minutes to call back, their line rang longer than the first time (as if they were wondering if they should answer the phone or not, plus the first time they answered right away.) It was more than the usual four rings. A different person answered the phone, but I could hear the person who I talked to in the first call coaching the call to the person who just answered the phone and they were actually conversing with each other while I was just waiting on the phone. This time I asked if they can do regular braids or cornrows and this person asked if it was for me or for someone else. I forget the term used for voice discrimination but it certainly seemed like it at this point because they don’t know me or met me or seen me before, but judged the call and their services based on my voice, and that I am a male. They said they could do nothing for me ever and I asked if they could do these hairstyles for my sister. At first they said yes, but quickly went back to the whole “no no no” gimmick and sounding like they can’t really understand English when it’s convenient for them. I asked if an appointment could be made for my sister and ” no no no” again before hanging up. Wish I could give a quarter of a star, because they at least answered their phone. Being a combat veteran I served for their freedom to act unprofessional and ignorant in my opinion, and I’m glad I have multiple ways of expressing my disgust about this so called business, starting with this 1 star review.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Stylist was very unprofessional. As soon as I sat in the chair they upd the price 20 more dollars… and they were so rough with my natural hair and trying to run a fine tooth comb through it. If you are an African braiding shop, you should know how to style BLACK hair. Atlas the finished product looked nothing like the picture. Even after I told her that I was not taken seriously… Had to go home and fix it. Awful experience… give your money to Mouna’s down the street!

I got crochet braids. The lady braided in a crazy style and it was loose so it only lasted 3-4 weeks. I usually have crochet braids in my hair for 6-8 weeks. The second time I washed my hair, it got so loose I had to take it down.
