Angie is the best! She convinced me to wait on cutting off my hair short and gave me a shoulder length cut that compliments my wonky naturally occurring “flips” and I couldn’t be happier! So many stylists will not “see” your hair’s natural rebellion and cut too much off–leaving you with too short of bangs or hair that looks uneven. Angie seems so aware of these elements and is very talented in the art of hair that I leave impressed every time I visit.

Whenever I get a haircut there’s always a bit of anticipation regarding the outcome, especially going to a new place. In my experience, communication goes well and they nail your request or they completely fall short. Neither of those things happen when you get a cut from Angie, or Lia, at David James. Instead, they surpass your expectations and you leave looking good and feeling great – with a better haircut than you could have envisioned.

The staff was friendly. But the salon needs to invest in a good hair dryer. The one I own is more professional than what they used for my curly hair. It was barely warm. For the prices they charge, they should have better quality styling tools over all. I was pretty disappointed that I did not get the blowout I was hoping for. I can do better at home. Not the stylist’s fault.

First time visiting the salon and I know Lindsay Labonte is going to be my new go-to for hair. Been looking for someone in NBay good with super fine and long hair and she did a bang-up job…giving me new bangs and lots of movement. First time someone cut my hair dry to start with but what a huge difference it made. Small, intimate salon w (3) chairs, owner David greeted me and lots of interesting hair in need of some good loving showing up …great vibe.

I’ve been a client of David of David James since its inception. His styling skills and personal demeanor are unparalleled. He has a very easy-going demeanor and is excellent at connecting with people, I believe most of his clients feel more like his friend than a client. He is a generous man and while I won’t discuss it here I know he has personally and quietly helped many in the local community The salon itself is a little oasis in the heart of San Rafael. While it has a clean, modern aesthetic, there is a little bit of that Cheers vibe where he and all his coworkers are happy to know your name. The Highest of Recommendations!
