Critical: ProfessionalismDon’t waste your time trying to get a haircut here unless you arrive before 2pm. 6 of the last 7 times I have tried they have either been closed early or locked the door before closing. I was there at 4:35pm when they close at 5pm and was turned away because one of the barbers said he wanted to leave early and the owner had already left. What kind of business turns away repeat paying customers over and over? I’ll tell you – it’s the kind that loses customers forever. Don’t waste your time trying to get a haircut here unless you arrive before 2pm. 6 of the last 7 times I have tried they have either been closed early or locked the door before closing. I was there at 4:35pm when they close at 5pm and was turned away because one of the barbers said he wanted to leave early and the owner had already left. Long time customer – 15 years. Never had a bad cut, always willing to listen to cut your hair the way you want your hair cut. Dave’s owned the shop for the last 5+ years and I feel fortunate they are around the corner from work/home. Worth the little extra to have someone dependable and who cares!

I have been going to see Dave for over 15 years, will continue to go for the next 15 years and have never had a bad experience. I have always felt welcome and part of the family. Dave and his staff provide a very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere while waiting for your hairt cut and during. The conversations are always enjoyable and I look forward to going to get my hair cut as it provides me the opportunity to talk, catch up with current events and have a good laugh. At times my daughters come with me, Dave and his staff are very welcoming to them, they provide some candy and talk with them which makes them feel comfortable and enjoy going with Dad while he gets his hair cut. If your looking for the small/neighborhood/family feeling when your going to get your hair cut, this is the place to go. Thanks Dave for the many good years and the new ones to come!

Short wait. Dave & Ray do great work. Classic barber setting. $18 cash or check. No credit cards accepted. There’s an ATM next door though. Dave has owned the spot for over 20 years I believe.

Love this place! Dave’s Golden Shear is a legit, traditional barbershop that is on the “cutting edge” of today’s styles. I’ve known Dave for years and he’s a great guy and fantastic barber. Golden Shear is hands down the best place to get a real haircut on the West Side.
