Critical: PunctualityI first visited Dade City Barbershop & Beauty in January, 2021 shortly after moving to the area. Oscar accommodated me as a walk-in but advised me that I should make an appointment in the future, since he was only able to do so due to a cancellation. I like the haircut and planned to return.The next two times I have needed a haircut, I have called on Saturday morning to see if there were any openings for the day. On both occasions I was informed that they were fully booked, so I went elsewhere. Due to my work hours I do not have the opportunity to slip out on a weekday to get a haircut, so Saturdays are my only option.On 6/30/21 I had a medical appointment in Lakeland for the early afternoon. Since I was taking a full day of vacation, I called the Monday prior to schedule an appointment for 8 am that day. After scheduling I received a text confirming my appointment.I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment, and the shop had not yet been opened. I returned to my car to wait. At 8:30 there was still no sign of anyone, so I left. When I arrived back at home I had a text message on my phone from Oscar (8:41) informing me that he would not be coming in that morning due to an emergency and inquiring if we could reschedule as he would be in that afternoon. Obviously due to my appointment I am not availableI understand that, calling in the day of as I have two times may result in no appointment being available. I have never held it against the shop that they could not squeeze me in on this basis,. I have always found it to be a mild irritation rather than a huge problem.. However, a business should not expect to retain a customer’s patronage if they are never able to receive services. The quality of a service is irrelevant if you cannot get an appointment.That being said, the reality is that I have not been able to schedule an appointment any time I have tried during the past 6 months. On the most recent occasion, despite having to schedule an appointment on a paid vacation day I was left hanging around the shop with nobody there. The only attempt to inform me that the appointment needed to be cancelled was sent 40 min AFTER the indicated time, when I had already wasted my time and gas on an appointment that was not happening.Despite the fact that Oscar gave me a good haircut I am unlikely to give Dade City Barbershop & Beauty another opportunity to fail.
