My daughter and I went in July 16, 2021 for loc maintenance for her. I also had my hair done I will explain my service after explaining hers. So my daughter had loc maintenance done and I didn’t like the fact that all of her hair wasn’t twisted so I asked Melissa to fix and she had the nerve to tell me that my daughter’s hair was starting to bud and loc. She also stated it was because we haven’t been coming every two weeks like she told us. Well we waited a while because the child didn’t even have enough new growth for her to retwist so I waited two additional weeks for the new growth to come in. They had the nerve to require an upfront non refundable deposit for this???As far as my hair…I wanted mine colored the auburn shade I attached in the review and the style I wanted was the same style that the chick in the blonde has which I also attached that picture. The color didn’t take because the girl didn’t do it right. Instead of her bleaching my hair first and then applying the color she mixed the bleach and the color in a bowl and then applied it with a chemical brush. Then almost over processed it while having me underneath the dryer. Then she couldn’t do the style right. Then she left while I was drying to go get lunch. Also she allowed me to leave the salon then had another stylist call me and say she forgot to charge me for something and that I needed to Cash App the money. I almost told them f$&k you but I went ahead and sent it. Why because I will allow the universe to take care of them and give them their karma for how they treated my daughter and I at that shop. I also had to pay an upfront non refundable deposit for myself as well. Even though I used to go to them when they had the location on Diamond Springs Road faithfully until I moved to the peninsula. Another thing we had 10 am appointments and they never opened the shop until about 10:15-10:20am and then had to turn away some walk in customers because “they were running behind”. This shop used to be very professional on point and a great place to go when they had the location on Diamond Springs Road. Now it is just a hot ghetto mess. Also I originally had an appointment with Denise however she was rescheduling and cancelling appointments all week due to her being sick. They gave me the option of choosing another stylist so I did. I wasn’t the only one in the shop that Denise canceled on. There was two other women there too. Why Denise walk into the shop while we were there? But she was sick though right? Hmph Take my advice and stay away from this place. My daughter and I have already found out new loctician. I had to pay a $25 upfront deposit per head and then they try to come with some bs later on. These people used to be good but have fallen off majorly. I had an appointment schedule at 11am. I got into the shop at 10:50 AM when I enter the shop There was no greeting they stared at me Like why was I there I told them my appointment time then I was told to take a seat A customer after me showed up and was straight taken care of then 10 minutes later another customer came and she straight went to do his hair then I was told another beautician was gonna do. They have horrible hospitality and customer service I wasted my time and gas don’t go here and they was nice taking the appointment nasty with attitudes in person beware this business

My son has been getting his hair done by Sade since he was in his late teens (17yrs old then). His hair was previously done before by a salon that had no idea on how to start or perfect dreads! My son is now 26 yrs old, his hair is now down to his waist and just BEAUTIFUL!! We LOVE Sade!! Just like any other salon or barbershop, there maybe a little wait but never over 20 to 30 mins. When calling for an appointment, if I am prompted to leave a message, I will always get a response. Professional, polite, knowledgeable, clean and courteous! The prices are reasonable and we are satisfied customers Always!! Sade, you are AMAZING BEAUTIFUL!! Thank you so much for your Service but most of all, for keeping my son looking his bestes with his “Hey, Kool-Aid” grin! Lolol Da Knotty Roots is the Root for Dread Success!!! I took my 3 son’s to get loc maintenance. I took two stars off versus of the confusion in my booked appointment when I got there. I had a text confirmation from the owner confirming my appointment day and time with the names of all three of my sons and they were not scheduled and extremely overbooked with other clients for the same appointment time. Due to me having record of my text confirmation, the ladies at the Chesapeake office went out of their way to accommodate all of my children. They were very professional and courteous, and all very patient with my kids. Three different stylists did their hair. My two younger boys hair came out perfect. I took one additional star off because the stylist that did my son’s hair had left a lot of white residue on my oldest son’s hair and a lit of caked up and clumped hair product that was not absorbed by the hair. It left my son’s hair feeling very heavy. Other than that, I absolutely lived the energy and professionalism of the other stylists.

I got twists here the only thing I liked is they took money off the final price instead if insuring all the twists were the same size, the stylist made the boxes on the scalp the same size giving my twists different sizes making it look disproportionate. The shampooer used nails when massaging my scalp which I do not like and is not needed.

Critical: Professionalism, PunctualityI wasn’t going to type a review of this place, but as I run my fingers through my roots, I changed my mind. This review is on my experience at the Norfolk location.My appointment was scheduled for eleven on November 20th. I showed up about ten minutes early, and everything was going fine. I checked in, sat down, and was then taken to get my hair washed. I talked to the woman who was going to interlock my hair, and she re-went over the price with me. Everything was cool.After my hair wash, things went down hill. With my hair soaking wet, she led me back to the front room and had me wait. Remember, my appointment was at eleven. I ended up sitting back in the front, soaking wet hair, for about an hour. Apparently she had double booked me with someone else.I had no idea what was going on at the time, but at no time, did she come and check on me, or let me know why my wait was so long. Finally, around 12, she takes me to her chair. No apology or explanation was given.It took her about three hours to interlock my hair. The problem with this was that she interlocked my hair with beeswax, which I had never heard of anyone doing before. From the root of my locks to the tips of all 148, they were drenched in wax.My hair felt heavy, waxy, oily, and disgusting. Washing it five times when I got home did little to remove the buildup.My final issue with the experience was that the person who interlocked my hair was careless and went through the root, of almost all my locs, in the same direction MULTIPLE times, which is something that can mess up your roots and locs.I was charged $240 for services, but believe me, I will NEVER go back to this place.If you don’t know how to interlock correctly, just say it.I wasn’t going to type a review of this place, but as I run my fingers through my roots, I changed my mind. Haven’t been in yet but I will say when I’m ready I’m hopeful they’ll be as thoughtful as the lady who returned my missed call, I didn’t want to leave a voice mail but still they called me back after hours to see how they could help.
