Mae is an expert at what she does. I am surprised of the negative review. After my very first appointment, I religiously return to her establishment for my lock retightenings. I suffer from some alopecia and she is very gentle and my retightenings are not tight. If you suffer from alopecia, you want to preserve the rest of the hair you have on your head,. When I decided to move forward with Sisterlocks I called Mae and she agreed to install my locs during a Chicago pop-up although she has moved to Texas. Despite it having been over 10 years she remembered my mother. I mean she really remembered not just who my mom is but her hair, the type of locs she had, details of the type of care her hair needed, etc.. After having Mae install my own locs, and having the opportunity to see several of her clients in person throughout that time, I can honestly say that the care, attention to detail, expertise, and consistency that she provides in her services absolutely shines through when you see the hair of her long-term clients.All these years later my mom still has her Sisterlocks and her new loctitian has praised the job that Mae did on the install and initial locking phases. And now thanks to Mae I am loving my own locs and I get so many compliments! About 15 years ago my mom had Sisterlocks installed by Mae and Mae remained her loctitian for a few years before my mother moved to another state. When I decided to move forward with Sisterlocks I called Mae and she agreed to install my locs during a Chicago pop-up although she has moved to Texas. Critical: Cleanliness, ProfessionalismThis was a very bad experience. May is very unprofessional. She prices gauged me. Very cluttered work space. She charged $60 an hour.
