Da Kinez is by far the best barber shop I’ve been to in at least the past three years. From the top-shelf barbers to the fun atmosphere, I can’t imagine their doing much more to craft a better experience for their patrons.

I’ve been getting my haircut here for about 4 months now. Glad I found this place. I’ve been to many all over the island. Most places are overpriced for less quality work. Not at Da Kinez. You’re going to get a great fade and a perfect lineup. All the barbers can fade you so no need to worry about which chair you sit in.

Awful, awful experience here. Da Kinez Barbershop in Waipahu was extremely unprofessional and discriminatory towards light skinned customers. I had called earlier the day I was getting a haircut and set up an appointment for 4:30pm and they said they penned me for that time. I arrived to the shop at 4pm and all the staff were busy with customers and I received a quick hi with no real “check-in.” There was no receptionist and a half scrawled, badly kept notebook for arrivals. I sat down and the place was run down, unkept and bugs everywhere. I’ve lived on island for over 3 years and I understand the difficulty with insects indoors but this was clear lack of care for their business front. As I waited and barbers finished with their customers, at no time did an employee check in with me or even acknowledged my presence in order for me to tell them about a scheduled appointment at 4:30. With no knowledge of my appointment but my arrival there prior to others, I was skipped over by three other people who were obviously “more local” than I was. At 4:50 another barber opened up and was about to look around, I told him I had an appointment at 4:30. He looked in the schedule and told me there was no appointment for that time written in. He then proceeded to choose another customer that had arrived after me and assured me, now that I’m the last waiting customer, that I would be next. I promptly left. Additionally, I was very respectful and minded my manners. I understand that people with lighter skinned are often discriminated towards and kindness will over be more effective than being rude and I was still blatantly mistreated. Even through a phone call, they lacked the organization to write someone in for an appointment. The parking was a mess and multiple people in the lot were parking in two spots for their one car. Absolutely horrible place to try and schedule a haircut.

First of all I’d like to thank Alii for doing my boys hairs they love it. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. When we had checked in we were told that it would be 45 mins to an hour. After an hour I had noticed that customers behind us were pulled in earlier as we waited. My sons had waited 2 hours to get their hair done. The barbers there were taking their regulars and/or friends before the walk ins. I had approached the cashier about but sadly she had no say. She did bring it to the shop owners attention and did nothing about it. Bottom line if your not a regular or a friend you will be put aside.

Barber cut me behind my ear with a razor and didn’t say a word. Thought I was imagining the weird sensation when it happened. Got home and I have a good gash about a centimeter long. Absolutely disgraceful to cut someone and not say a word. I would have understood if the barber did it and told me on the spot but he didn’t. Felt a bunch of pain in the shower when I was shampooing my hair. Started bleeding and still hurts almost 12 hours later. I am shocked and will not be returning. Be warned they do not tell you when they mess up. I tipped well and I am mad I did.
