My hair is more on the wavy side than curly, and I wasn’t really sure what to expect.Jessica had me send her a pic of my hair ahead of time so she could estimate the time/cost for my cut. She got back to me promptly and we scheduled an appointment. Jessica asked me to do my hair like I normally would and come with it dry. I had just recently started styling my hair curly instead of flat ironing or curling it with a curling iron, so I gave it my best try with the diffuser before going in.Jessica is so friendly and put me at east right away. She really took the time to listen to my concerns and goals for my hair and discuss what I wanted as far as a cut. Jessica cut my hair dry, so we could see how it would lay with the curl pattern. I could tell as she was cutting it that I was finally going to be happy with a haircut!After the haircut, Jessica did a detox treatment on my hair and washed/conditioned. That part is standard in any salon (maybe minus the detox) but what was really incredible is how she showed me exactly how to use all the products and in what amount.She walked me through the process of adding gel, how much, and a technique that has my hair air drying beautifully (instead of the poofy mess I was getting up until now). She even typed up the instructions in explicit detail and emailed them to me so I can actually recreate the look at home. The first cut from Curl Sanctuary comes with full size products (shampoo, conditioner and gel for me), as well as a few other goodies for caring for curly/wavy hair, so I really left with everything I needed.I’m amazed! I’m 39 years old and I feel like I finally know how to take care of my hair properly. I’ve been air drying and using the techniques Jessica showed me for just over 2 months now, and my hair feels softer and healthier than ever.If you are on the fence, I say try it! I have been trying to figure out the curly girl method for a while now, and Jessica explains EVERYTHING you need to know for your own hair. It wasn’t just a haircut but an entire EDUCATIONAL lesson from a master of curls on how to manage your hair. With your first cut, you also get the full sized products she used + a goodie bag of curly girl stuff. She will also email you everything she went over so you can refer back. Jessica sat down and we established what I wanted and went from there. I really like the color. The cut is okay, but it is much shorter than I expected which can happen with curly hair. I went in for Pintura highlighting and a curly cut trim. The whole process took about 4hrs for my medium length curly hair. Jessica sat down and we established what I wanted and went from there. I really like the color. The cut is okay, but it is much shorter than I expected which can happen with curly hair. I came away with a upkeep bag, a great new hairstyle, and more confidence that I am taking proper care of my hair.
