This review is long overdue. I have been getting curly cuts with Teresa for several years and highly recommend that anyone with curly hair (or any texture) go to Curl Hair & Wellness! Prior to coming here I was jumping from salon to salon and was never satisfied. There is no comparison! The stylists here are thorough, professional, and friendly. My last haircut was a year ago with a supposed “curl specialist” in Philadelphia. It left my hair limp and almost straight which was quiet devastating for me. Haircuts generally make me anxious and so despite the numerous gorgeous curl transformations on Curl and Wellnes’ Instagram I was nervous for my cut this week. My hair was also long, thick, tangled and an overall mess. My stylist was Tori Stanton and she gave me one of the best haircuts I have ever had in my entire life. I almost shed tears of joy and I don’t think that’s ever happened before. My curls have never looked so good. Tori is very patient and knowledgeable. She walked me through all the steps of the haircut and the styling process and I actually learned so much despite having many previous curly haircuts. She was great at providing product recommendations and more importantly I never felt pressured to purchase any products.

I had my first curly cut with Doreen last week and it was amazing! I not only got a cut and color, but an education on how to manage my curls and what products will work best for me. The salon was very clean and the staff was friendly. My hair looks and feels incredible. It is pricier than salons I’ve gone to previously but I understand it’s a special cut and the prices are listed on their website for all to see. It was an overall great experience and I already booked my second appointment.

I searched all over to find someone that specializes in Curly hair. I scheduled an appointment with Doreen and I was looking for curly hair repair due to the daily straightening I have done to my hair. She recommend to do the K18 treatment and it’s amazing how she transformed my hair! I’m truly excited for this journey and after 10 plus years, I’m ready to embrace my natural hair! I highly recommend this place and can not wait to bring my daughter to have this same transformation.

I got my curly haircut and color and style at the End of June. I have to say I am honestly very disappointed and displeased. I got a color and cut for an insane amount of money. I asked for shorter layers and to go darker and I specifically said I did not want red tones in my hair, and yet there is. My hair is naturally dark brown and at the time of service it had highlights. Only a month later and my original highlights are coming through at my roots (I was told she would leave some highlights to pop through and my ends, which was fine) , not to mention many missed gray hairs. I will not be going back.

I went into Curl Hair and Wellness for my first haircut in about 13 years. My curls are completely revived to the point I didn’t know my hair was so curly! Doreen took the time to help my curls, as well as a scalp treatment. She explained every step of the process and showed me exactly what to do to keep up with my curls. Tori Stanton was my stylist and she really help me understand the nature of my hair. I wanted to get my curls back and implement a regime that was given to me by a professional, and she made it so simple and easy for me to understand. She completely revitalized my curls and made me realize I have curlier hair than I THOUGHT I had. She was so kind, sweet, and patient with me. Would 10000% recommend. Also, the service itself (which I paid $95) was not expensive at all, the products were on the pricier side but I am sure if you went in and mentioned you were ballin on a budget the stylists would be willing to adjust their choices for you that’ll fit your budget.

As much as I saw the posts on Instagram before going in, I guess I hadn’t considered that I don’t actually want to style my hair the way that they style everyone. It seems you get the same styled hair walking out regardless of what maybe fits your face or personality. I prefer to wear my hair with it’s very natural wave, not extra curly, and now I have a rather square head and a very blunt, evenly cut bottom layer, which I’ve never experienced with a curly cut before. I think I was also in the salon for 2.5 hours, of which 1.5 hours of that was the styling. I walked out feeling a bit like a judge from the early 1700’s with a square head of curls.

Teresa and her staff are amazing!! My first apt got all screwy and was deleted from their system. I was devastated. However, their assistant listened to me and apologized and somehow fit me in the following week. So grateful! Teresa gave me my first ever deva cut. She walked me through all the do’s and don’t’s of the curly girl method. She answered all my questions with tons of detail. I left feeling not only beautiful but educated. I highly recommend Teresa and her salon to anyone questioning their curly girl journey. Even if it’s just to learn new techniques, they are amazing!! Thank you so much!!!
