This was my first time at Cost Cutters. I easily made a same day appointment. Brandi did an excellent job on my haircut. I showed her a picture of a previous haircut I had. Did exactly as I requested. Very friendly and nice and precise. Monica at the front desk was very friendly and nice also. I will be going back to Brandi again, next time haircut and highlights. Lessen learned. Ask for Monica to do the cut, Never have had an issue with her doing my cut that is very simple. specified 3x how long and asked multiple times for the requested length and unfortunately the stylist I had did not do as I had requested. Stopped in tonight to see if I could get a quick layered cut. Sadly no one was inside the shop, the place was empty. The two women supposedly in charge were standing outside smoking , talking yo a “ friend” that was nit in the employ of Cost Cutters. I would NEVER let a smoker cut my hair. Clearly these women were very uneducated a d inexperienced in salon professionalism which of course means they never progressed beyond beauty school. I RAN away and cut my hair by myself via you tube !!

I was not happy. I went in and asked if they cut mens hair. They said yes. I told them what I wanted for my son. Cut & clean all around the edges (sides & back) Then trim the top between 1/2 inch & an inch. He’s 16 & my other son stayed to get his done. I went next door. Boys came back with one saying he’s not getting his cut there. The other one only had the sides & back done. Nothing was taken off the top. I sent him right back to ask them to do the top and they wanted to charge for another haircut because he left and went next door. I asked how much the haircut was before they started & they charged him more because I was not there. They charged him more for half a haircut and he gave her a tip. Will not go back.

Critical: ProfessionalismI’ve been going to Cost Cutters on Houghton & Broadway for years because it is the closest place to my house. I recently went in for a haircut with an appointment. Monica Oliva ended up being my “stylist” and I have to say that I have never had a bad experience there before this recent visit. Monica was far from friendly and pretty rude. She made me feel as though my request was ridiculous even though I asked for what I usually ask for at every visit. I sat in silence while she angrily cut my hair and 10 mins later she rang me up without so much as a thank you for coming in. I paid the $22 and she received no tip. I can’t imagine I’m the only person she has treated this way. Monica Oliva ended up being my “stylist” and I have to say that I have never had a bad experience there before this recent visit. Monica was far from friendly and pretty rude.
