I have a lot of mixed feelings about my hair appointment. For one, I know Mackenzie is newer, and they were absolutely a sweetheart. Amazing customer service from them. But at the same time, I didn’t receive what I asked for. My hair doesn’t look /bad/ exactly, just not what I wanted. I selected this salon even though it was out of my price range because of the claims that their stylists were knowledgeable on curly hair. Other curly hair salons were closed on my days off, so I was hopeful this would work. The service started late- appt at 1, in the chair at 1:25, didn’t start hair until almost 2. Felt awkward. During consultation, I spoke in depth about wanting a shorter haircut to compliment my curls, I wanted to learn about my curls and how to take care of them, curly was the word I continually used. And in the end, I got… a straight haircut. Granted, I held my tongue when they took out the straight iron, and that’s my own fault, but I was tired at that point. It was past closing time of the store, I’d been there for over 4 hours. I was tired. They had gotten my color incorrect the first time they tried, received help from an instructor – and that’s fine! I was open to that. But even after help from the instructor, my roots and the rest of my hair are different shades of ginger. It’s unblended, not like an ombre or anything, and is basically a straight line of color difference. I understand my hair is switching over to another color system, but I left there with two different colors in my hair. I was given no tips, no information, no anything on how to treat my curls, except trying to be sold a $32 bottle of shampoo and matching conditioner, or to come in and get my hair washed by them so they could teach me (which was what I was hoping for in the first place, not to have to spend more money and come in again.) My hair had been cut beautifully… for straight hair. I haven’t rinsed and styled it back to it’s curly self yet, but I worry it won’t look right, as I have no clue how a straight haircut will do for curly hair. It would have been nice to have been styled curly, maybe had my hair diffused, have my roots not be another color
