I love this place. I used to chemically straighten my hair and started to grow out my roots during the pandemic. I came here first back in November 2021 for a cut that would get rid of the old straight parts (shown in pic) and help bring my curls back to life! Jess knew exactly what I wanted and what would look best for my hair, not only giving me a fab cut but also recommending products and styling methods to help my curls thrive. I went back at the beginning of March 2022 for balayage highlights to accentuate my curls and again, Jess understood the assignment! I never in a million years thought I would love my curls this much. I recommend this place wholeheartedly to all curly gals and guys out there 🙂

Lenny worked her magic and did an amazing job cutting and coloring my curly hair! After I showed her reference photos of some hairstyles that I found online, she cut my hair in the style that I wanted, and she used the balayage technique to highlight my hair. Also, Lenny took the time to learn about how I take care of my hair at home, and she even provided recommendations on other hair products and tools I can use for my hair. Everyone at the Chelsea Rae Salon was very friendly and sweet, and the salon itself is absolutely beautiful. I’m definitely planning on returning back to this salon in the future. I highly recommend setting up an appointment here for anyone with curly hair!

When I moved to Pittsburgh a few years ago, I was used to getting my hair flat ironed every 2 weeks and wearing it long. My hair was damaged and the color was growing out. Chelsea not only brought my hair back to life, she helped me to embrace my natural curls. Now, I love my hair and my curls! She steams and conditions my hair which can be dry. I feel like a new person again! I hadn’t had a proper curly cut since before the pandemic, and I tried a cut about two months ago that just. didn’t. work. Lydia worked magic on my curls to bring them back to their glory. After the dry cut, every step she took is one I do myself, and have rarely found a salon that will do the same. Wetting hair to put in product, diffusing upside down (or as close to it as possible, ha!) It’s the little things that really help, and the result is a cut I love that basically needs no input from me! It’s hard to find the right person who understands how your hair works, and I’m so glad I did. I will definitely be back.

Highly recommend Lydia! Great salon, with friendly, knowledgeable stylists and solid prices. I got a curly cut with a deep conditioning. Lydia took the time to discuss what I was looking for, respected my choice to grow out my existing color, used some Olaplex to rebalance some of the blonde (from another salon), and gave me feedback on her overall thoughts.
