Critical: Professionalism, Quality, ValueI have bodacious, curly hair. It has always been my pride and joy. I had been growing it for about 6 years with yearly split end management and bimonthly undercut rebuzz because of sheer volume, but had spent over two years growing everything out. It was only about 3-4 inches different, but was about 20-24 inches fully extended at the longest parts and had started to become unmanageable so I decided to find a professional to make it closer to the same length. My hair is iconic and a huge part of my identity and I was clear that I just wanted it to be one length. What I got was physically assaulted. I did not consent to thinning shears or tell her I wanted to donate to Locks of Love. The under is now 4 inches longer than the top and my dense curls are now a chaotically thinned mess. Mary cut my heart out and stole my identity and all of the opportunities and experiences that come with feeling self-confident. I have a hard time getting up and looking in the mirror sometimes now. I feel like I’m looking at a stranger. I had been growing it for about 6 years with yearly split end management and bimonthly undercut rebuzz because of sheer volume, but had spent over two years growing everything out.
