Jen is a great stylist. She’s friendly, and fun, and very knowledgeable. I recently went in for a mermaid dye job, and she took the time to make sure I knew how long it was likely to take (6+hours, y’all!) how much it was likely to cost, and how much effort it’ll be to maintain. Her estimate was spot on, and my hair is totally magical. I’ve also had her cut my curly, finicky hair, and she’s my go to. If you have curly hair, you know how important finding an experienced stylist can be!

This is a great salon, very pleasant atmosphere. Melanie, the owner, has been cutting my hair off and on for years. I keep going back to her because she really gives a quality haircut. She truly understands hair and is very good at assessing people’s personal styles and what will suit them both physically and temperamentally. I highly recommend.

I can’t say enough great things about Melanie and Charm School. I first started coming to Melanie for my hair about 2 years ago after several years of total and utter frustration with other stylists. I was trying to grow my hair long and no matter who I would see, and how I would express my hair goals, they would chop off any new growth I had, saying it needed it, but not give me any suggestions on how to grow it long and healthy. Melanie listened to me, like REALLY LISTENED and made specific suggestions, including not cutting my hair and sticking to coloring and improving overall health. She knows her craft and tells you what you need straight up and never pushes services or products for the sake of an upsell. She’s honest and extremely skilled and I’m thrilled to say that my hair is now longer and healthier than its been in years!!! Melanie is the real deal and I don’t trust anyone else with my hair. Take your hair to Charm School. You’ll be really happy that you did.

I have wavy hair. Not curly, wavy. It waves differently depending on the weather, the humidity, whether I used enough conditioner this morning, what side of my head it’s on. I endured a lot of haircutting disasters in my life, inflicted on me by people who didn’t understand wavy hair, didn’t listen to what I wanted, etc. But not since I started going to Melanie… sometime well before the first Obama administration. Whether I’m thinking of growing my hair out, cutting it shorter, or liking it the way it is, Melanie explains my options and never promotes stuff I don’t want. She gives me excellent cuts every time. She patiently, patiently answers my questions about products and techniques to use between visits. All that, plus a pleasant salon soundtrack and counseling on important life questions, like whether I should buy a Miata for my 40th birthday. (Thanks to Melanie’s encouragement, I did.)

Melanie’s Charm School Salon is the bee’s knees. Not only is she an amazing stylist with a great deal of patience for unruly locks and weird home dye jobs, she makes everything better with scissors and snacks. There are also statistically more vintage cat sculptures than your standard salon.
