I went to this salon secondary to having a gift certificate. This was one of the worst manicures I’ve ever had. I gave a few stars secondary to friendliness of staff however the girl who did my manicure did not file my nails evenly or even the same shape, did not really push my cuticles back, and ended up having chips and smudges by time of leaving secondary to thick layers of polish being applied. Seemed very rushed and honestly thought I could’ve done just as good of a job.

Critical: Quality, ValueI went to Changes Salon and day Spa for the first time last Wednesday. It always had a lot of cars outside and I checked Yelp and the reviews looked good. I chose Enisa who the salon calls a senior stylist and who had some good picks on Instagram.I went in for a partial highlight and trim. I was charged 237$. Now I did check the price menu before I went and it said it was 125$ for what I wanted. After the shock wore off I asked for a receipt with a breakdown the woman played with the computer for a minute and said sorry I can’t print it. I told her I need a breakdown for why it cost more than double the price.. So She wrote it down on a post it. 47$ editorial charge,37$ toner and 28$ conditioner and 125$ for trim and partial highlights. So I asked the woman what’s a editorial charge? She said “ oh I’m not a stylist I don’t know”. So I asked her to get the manager she said there wasn’t one in. I had to get to work and didn’t have time to play with these unprofessional people. But Later that evening I received a voicemail telling me the editorial charge was for long hair. Now I went and reread the price menu in the fine print there is a unspecified charge for long hair. Beware anything past the shoulders is considered long. After getting home from work In “REAL” lighting I was so disappointed she had obviously put a toner that made the highlights gray not cool blond and the low light black. The worst part is during the trim she said you have no layers. I said I know they don’t work with my naturally curly hair. She said I can make them so they’re suttle. I said ok just DONT cut them short it looks ridiculous when I air dry my hair. She said of course not. The long layers are short! 3in shorter than the rest of my hair. There’s bleeding between highlights, a huge section on my right side is completely black no highlights. It’s like she got to finishing up and she just quit. This is the worst and most expensive haircut & partial highlights I’ve ever had. Also all those cars outside are employees I counted 12 . 3 clients came in the couple hrs I was there. Now I’m doubting Enisa’s Instagram picture was hers at all. I feel conned the price was more than double what I was told and the senior stylist work was horrible.I went to Changes Salon and day Spa for the first time last Wednesday. I have had 3 massages here so far, and I will absolutely continue to go back. The entire staff are the nicest, most welcoming people, but not overbearing. Prices are quite reasonable, I love the atmosphere. The massage therapist I have seen, Sean, is fantastic. Best massage ever, he’s friendly, knowledgeable and very relaxing. I would definitely give this place a try! I used to frequent hand and stone, and the massages were inconsistent and impossible to get booked. So glad I found changes.

Critical: Professionalism, QualityWorst hair experience EVER!!! My husband signed me up for a spa treatment and hair for Mother’s Day. I went and had my hair did first. I explained what I was looking for which was, for my new growth to match the box hair color on my hair from the previous year. I was told that the box color would be hard to color but, changing my new growth to match it would not be difficult. I have curly hair and I was a bit hesitant about my hair being treated by a place that didn’t really look like they would know how to do my hair (I’m mixed B&W). I figured it was 2021 and surely these people would be professional enough to handle something so simple. I was entirely wrong! Not only did my hair NOT look like I was told it would look, it was not cut the way I wanted it to be cut, AND she kept brushing my curls which caused me to leave looking like a poodle/skunk. YOU CANNOT KEEP COMBING CURLY HAIR!!! I called and requested a fix. I was given a consultation by another hair dresser who temp fixed my hair for my birthday. Mind you, I was charged $80 just to have my hair blow dried/flat ironed. Ridiculous prices!! I thought that my “fix it” appointment would be with the new consultant, it wasn’t. If it wasn’t for me wanting to get my hair fixed, I would have just demanded my money back! The same woman who messed my hair up the first time was the one now trying to fix it. THANKFULLY, she was able to but, she still over combed my hair and I still left looking like a poodle. Terrible experience. I only gave this two stars because the spa portion was amazing. For all my sisters out there with black/mixed hair….. stay away from this place! This is 2021 and there are still salons out here not tending properly to diverse hair. I just wanted my new growth to match and I left looking like a striped skunk.Expensive!!! Unprofessional!!!Worst hair experience EVER!!! I booked a “special style” for my brother’s wedding so I would look good in pictures, and I have long hair that I am not good at styling on my own. I asked for “soft pretty curls and half up so it doesn’t get in my face”. I was expecting something that looked like a homecoming hairstyle. My stylist curled my hair, sprayed it a bunch, and…that was it. I asked if we could get the front pieces pinned back, she told me it would look better without it. She also noted how staticky my hair was, and just kinda loaded more hairspray on top. I paid $70 after tip, and the attached picture is how it looked by the time I got home. I left the salon at 10am and the curls had fallen out completely by the time pictures were taken at 1230.

Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, QualityFrom the beginning, I was nervous about having anyone do my hair and makeup- especially because I like to do my own a certain way. But when I say that I’m glad to have had my makeup and hair done by the professionals for my wedding, I mean it. Missy was a gem from the start, keeping me updated on changes within the salon, and making sure that I was checked in on and happy throughout the planning and execution process. Athena did my makeup 3 times over the course of my wedding weekend (2 ceremonies and a reception look), and every single look was flawless. From natural to glam, she made me feel beautiful and perfect for each event. I loved and appreciated how she was so welcoming and personable the entire weekend, and honestly, I really enjoyed spending hours relaxing in her chair. She was so receptive to feedback from my trial, and I would just recommend her over and over again, especially to my fellow brown girls who are worried about color matching (hint- no need to be worried, she matched me perfectly). Emily did my hair twice the second day for my two ceremonies, and after having a trial with someone else and not being completely thrilled with the results, Emily absolutely killed it. She not only helped me decide based on my looks what would be best, but she was so sweet and calming (which really helped considering I had maybe 4 hours of sleep between day 1 and 2 of my wedding). Everyone was so kind and genuine, and they were all so good at their work. I cannot begin to express my appreciation for making my day perfect.Services: Hairstyling, UpdosFrom the beginning, I was nervous about having anyone do my hair and makeup- especially because I like to do my own a certain way. Amazing staff and great owners. I’ve never felt more like family in any place of business. Jeff is an artist when it comes to color, style, and method. Athena has so much skin care knowledge and has helped me care for my skin over the years. Highly recommend!
