Jerry is a Master Barber, and an awesome guy. Perfect haircuts every time. 60+ years experience and the cost is low. With the charm of a real Barber shop. That is why I go to him no matter what.

Jerry is a legend!! He has matchless experience and has literally devoted his life to his craft! There’s no other barber I know of who has kept his prices lower, his customers happier, and his hair skills sharper. He deserves 100 stars in my opinion!

Visited Central Barber Shop as I was looking for a new place to get a quick haircut. Jerry was very friendly and quickly gave me a haircut. I get very simple buzzcuts with a No 2 blade and am not a fan of paying $20 plus tip at other shops I’ve been to for such a simple haircut. His cost was $10 for a haircut. Also no appointment required. If your looking for a good haircut, give Central Barber Shop a try. I’ll definitely go back.

I have been going to Central Barber Shop since I was a kid. Jerry, the barberowner is a super nicefriendly guy and wants make sure you are happy with your haircut. He’s great with the Clippers and does killer flat tops and jar head buzz cuts. He has pictures of different haircuts on the walls and you can just pint to the one you want/like and he will tell you if he can make that happen with your hair type. Now, the best of all is that the haircuts are only $10. Yes, that’s right $10 and aims to please. What mare can you ask for? Well I have another plus in case you were asking for more. The atmosphere is old school barbershop and you feel like you’re in an old school barber shop because you are when you’re at Central Barber Shop. Two thumbs up and highly recommended.

Jerry is absolutely the man of steel. He’s the best barber I’ve been to for 20 years straight, and I’m 26 years old.

Jerry’s a great barber, I come here as often as I can. I drive almost a half hour just because I don’t have a barber shop by me, and it is THAT IMPORTANT to support local. He’s also open very early, and usually will come even earlier if you call.

Not very good. He shakes every time he’s cutting the hair and it messed up mine. I was not very happy the fact that he tried to seem professional and keep making excuse to why that happened and that it was not a mistake. He said that it’s ok and that my hair was going to grow back in some weeks. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this to anyone. Not only that, the quality is bad and he uses the same brush and scissors for everyone. There was even hair from the previous costumer. I wanted to curse at him but I maintained calmed.

Great old fashioned barbershop! The proprietor is the only barber in the shop so wait times can get a little long on Saturdays, however you can always go next door to get a cup of coffee or a sandwich while you wait. Haircuts are given fairly quickly, but don’t be surprised if your cut is interrupted by the mailman coming in, the barber stopping to wave to or even talk to passersby, or to share something from the newspaper. If you’re concerned that this might take too long then you’re in the wrong place. This is all part of the small town charm that makes shops like this a quickly fading treasure of a generation past. This shop is an Elgin institution and shouldn’t be missed.
