Booking my appointment was easy. The people were friendly and professional. Great salon environment, good music, overall great vibe. I’ve been looking for a new nail salon since the customer service has been so lackluster at many other places. I was greeted, offered beverages and seated immediately by Rene, who was kind, relatable, and welcoming. My nail tech, Maya was so sweet and engaging. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and talked about the changes to apply and let’s just say she understood the assignment! I will definitely be coming back.

This place is amazing. I am from Philly and my family moved to North Carolina. I was in desperate need of a nail salon with good reviews and great service and I definitely have found my new spot. Brown Shugah is black owned and they have outstanding service. I got a full acrylic set and pedicure. I had a few hiccups along the way with color choice but they were very patient and accommodating. All of the techs were polite and courteous. The owner was on sight helping and making sure everyone was comfortable. I was offered wine and water and I felt very relaxed. The pictures I posted don’t do this place any justice. If you are looking for a nail salon because you are new to the area or just want a change from the spot your at, give them a chance you won’t regret it.

I will say this… My tech was late, the salon was dirty and the music and owner were loud. if you are looking for a nice, QUIET, place to unwind, be pampered, and receive quality service – this ain’t that place!

I have been trying to find a good nail salon in Belmont/Mount Holly for months now. Finally I found the *one*! This was my first time at Brown Shugah and it won’t be my last. I was able to book online which was super easy and I appreciated being able to do that instead of having to call. I got a gel mani and a gel pedi when I went. I’ll break my review down into a few different segments: atmosphere, services, prices. 1. Atmosphere: walking in, the salon was decorated beautifully and gave off a cozy vibe. The owner Renee greeted me right away and helped me pick my color. Renee interacted with every single customer and made sure everyone was well taken care of. She also was cleaning the salon which was wonderful to see. I can’t even remember the last time I saw an owner of a salon cleaning to make sure everything was sanitized and ready to go. You can tell she takes great pride in Brown Shugah. And all the nail techs do as well! Every single one of them were chatting with customers, laughing, and seemed to genuinely love their job. Every other customer there while I was there was a regular and I can see why! Brown Shugah gave off “when you’re here you’re family” vibes and it was truly a breath of fresh air. 2. Services: I got a gel mani and gel pedi. First off, this salon includes gel polish in their pedicure. How genius is that? No more paying extra for the gel polish! I was thrilled when I learned this. Secondly, my pedicure was so relaxing and Maya really took her time to make sure it was done right. I loved that you get a massage with the scrub. That was probably my favorite part of the pedicure. Lastly, my manicure came out equally as beautiful. I could tell Maya was super skilled and I have a feeling this gel polish will actually last on my fingers as opposed to other salons where it’s begun to peel or chip off after close to a week. 3. Prices: on Tuesdays and Wednesdays manicures and pedicures are $30 each which is a steal, especially factoring that gel polish was used for both services. I won’t mind paying full price here though because the services were excellent and the gel polish is included in the pedicure. It’s well worth the money, in my opinion. Bottom line: Brown Shugah is the nail salon to go to if you’re in the Belmont/Mount Holly/Charlotte area! I can’t wait to go back again.

Visited Brown Shugah Nail Bar just the other day and the staff there are so welcoming! I scheduled an appointment ahead of time and had no trouble being serviced at the time of my appointment. Walked right in and sat down! 10/10 would recommend! Gel manicures

I was very excited to support this local black owned business. I had sns nails with a little design. Very cute. However the tech who did it,unfortunately,he did not do a good job. One week and two days in, a nail fell off and another one was loose. I decided to go back in. The manager is very professional and they had him fix it. Week two, I was out of town and two more nails fell off. My nails don’t grow that fast. I couldn’t go back in and get it fixed since I was out of the area. I think if I had a different tech or maybe gel nails only my experience may have went better.

I went today with a friend and had a full set done. The staff is very friendly and the place is clean. As for my nails, they are awful! The acrylic is bulky and uneven. I showed them to my husband and even he said what happened! He knows nothing about nails. The design is nice. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
