At Brooklyn Herborium, we practice the ancient art of herbal crafting. We make organic & wild crafted skincare products from the very best ingredients using traditional methods, slow and by hand. We have children and make products to care for babies, tots, and older children’s skin. We carry a selection of home goods made from natural materials like linen, cotton, brass, copper, and ceramics as well as beeswax candles. Our Windsor Terrace Workshop has a selection of healthy pantry goods along with hudson valley produce, dairy and the world’s best bacon. I don’t treat myself like this often, so I decided to go for it all, with level 3. I’ve had a few facials before but this was something extra special. I was surprised (pleasantly) that it started with a chat session on the couches, sipping organic herbal tea. The decor and vibe of the spot is welcoming, beautiful, homey with a hint of rustic sophistication. She asked me about my routine and told me she would know how to customize my treatment with a closer look when we got into the treatment room, which was just as serene and homey as the rest of the store. It turned out that some of the options I thought about were not needed; I appreciated her honesty. I opted for her recommendations because I trusted her sincerity and expertise. Jen had an intuitive touch and was clear that I could give her direction if I wanted to. I enjoyed the massages, the soft music selection, the sound bath with real instruments as I lay in a mask with warm towels, the crystals and stones, the subtle scents of the organic handmade products. It was just what I needed on a cold winter day. I even went out to dinner without makeup because I was glowing! After the treatment, I was able to browse the products while she showed me exactly how to use them at home and answer all my questions thoroughly. I felt genuinely pampered and cared for. I had a level 1 facial with Jen a few weeks ago and it was absolutely fabulous. From the moment I arrived at the shop, Jen and the woman at the front desk (whose name I unfortunately do not recall) offered me herbal tea and made me feel comfortable on the couch. Jen chatted with me before the facial to better understand my current routine. The facial was extremely relaxing and my skin was glowing afterwards! Jen provided helpful recommendations on how to manage my skin care and demonstrated how to use some of the recommended products from my service. She was very honest and not too pushy. Weeks later, my skin continues to feel awesome and I am excited to return to the shop soon! I had read about Emma’s natural skin care philosophy and practice on Into The Gloss and as someone with sensitive skin and a preference for all things natural i was really keen to try out Emma’s facials and products. When i visited NYC in 2013 i got my chance. I cannot recommend Between You and The Moon highly enough! Emma gave me excellent skin care advice, the best facial i have ever had (before or since) and i took many of her products with me back to Australia. My skin looked AMAZING afterwards and her products are gentle yet super effective. I love that they are natural, handmade and effective. I wish i lived in NYC just for Between You and The Moon. Seriously!

The Brooklyn Herborium is by far the best facial I have ever had! Emma, the incredibly talented and lovely facialist and Good-Witch-In-Chief, has wonderfully gentle hands and an exacting eye, making her facials both totally thorough and completely relaxing and pampering. Emma also understands skin. Her recommendations are not driven by a desire to push products, but rather by a genuine wish to make her client’s skin better. She takes a pared-down approach to skincare and the Herborium’s own line of products, Between You and the Moon, is simply incredible. Every one of the products is hand-crafted with love and tremendous care and they are beautiful, gentle, yet effective. Even if you can’t make it to have a facial with Emma, do check out the products: they will make a huge difference to your skin!

I have never had the pleasure of visiting in person but the products are OUTSTANDING! I first heard of Emma from Erin of BabyCakes NYC in a blog entry. Since then I immediately ordered the same products she talked about and have since tried some others. The approach to skin care is refreshing and so simple and it works. It’s really amazing to watch your skin do so well being supported by these amazing products. I am planning a trip to NYC to get pampered in person but until then I will keep ordering their Between You and the Moon product line (Sow Your Wild Oats and Nourish and Replenish oil are AMAZING)
